Check out the condition on this 400/360 double rifle from J. Lang. It’s basically it’s brand new. Pretty cool considering it was made in 1952.

If you’re the handy type and you would like to make your own double barrel shotgun, here’s a great way to get started. Buy this Purdey-style action forging. It’s on Ebay right now for $500. Of course, it still needs a lot of time, work and money to become a gun.

I search for shotguns every night. In about 20 minutes I can check all of the major gun website for new double barrels. Most night I see nothing. While there are always new guns, they’re rarely ones I’m interested in. Weeks go by like this, sometimes months. Then one day something nice pops us and [...]

The Browning Superposed is one of the world’s great double-barrel shotguns. Here’s a nice looking 20 gauge, Lightning, Grade 1 that would be a great grouse gun.

In the last 182 years, W.W. Greener has made thousands of double barrel shotguns. May of these shotguns have made there way into the US. The ones you usually are boxlocks like this FH 70, this 12 gauge Empire. Sidelocks like this are less common, but you do see them (that one was converted to a straight [...]

Lefevers are my favorite American double barrel shotguns (OK, one of my favorites). Twenty gauge Lefevers are tough to come across, and as you go up in grades, they get scarcer and scarcer. Throw in some condition and you have a gun that’s almost impossible to come by. They’re out there, but few of them [...]

Amoskeag’s 11/19 auction has a bunch of good double barrel shotguns coming up in it. Here a couple that would be ideal in the uplands. 20g Browning Superlight - of all the classic “America” shotguns, the Belgian Brownings are the most shootable. With modern dimensions and chambers, they’re very handy guns. Most of them are heavy, [...]

Here a few good looking guns that have caught my eye lately: Ithaca/SKB 280E, 12g, 28″ – this is a nice looking, well made boxlock with ejectors and shootable dimensions. These guns are solid, reliable, and the single trigger always makes the gun go bang. Perfect for ducks or pheasants. 12g Purdey – Even [...]

The 2 7/8″ 10 gauge is a load lost to time. Back in the late 19th century, it was the most popular load in this country and lots of American double barrel shotguns were made to shoot it. But as powders improved and shooting styles changes, more and more hunters swapped their 10s for 12s. [...]

The hammer dropped today at Julias on this stunning Boss O/U. When the action stopped, one hand was up and the bid was $165,000! With the 15% premium, that means the new owner of this spectacular double barrel shotgun will write a check for about $190,000. I saw this over-and-under shotgun at Julia’s preview on [...]
