Another great Guyot side-by-side shotgun….

12 gauge Guyot double barrel sidelock shotgun
12 gauge Guyot double barrel sidelock shotgun

I’m a big fan of Guyot shotguns, and I’ve written about these doubles here, here, and here. Just about every Guyot side-by-side that I’ve seen has been very well made, from the lower-end boxlocks to the top-of-line sidelocks.

The sidelock here is an another example of just how much skill went into Guyot’s best double barrel shotguns. It was auctioned off last year and went for a very fair at a great price. I wish I had been the person who got it. Here’s the auctioneer’s full listing on it:

This super nice 16 gauge Charles Daly Diamond Quality side-by-side just popped up today on Gunsinternational.com. It’s is a Lindner-made, pre-war Daly and it looks like it’s in excellent original condition.

Lindner-made, Charles Daly side-by-sides are fantastic shotguns. Diamonds like this  are elegant, extremely well made, and absolute top-quality.

If you’ve ever wanted one of these double shotguns, I would get this one right away. At $7,750, the price is fair. I bet it won’t be around for long.

Almost America…

Europeans are as passionate about woodcock hunting as Americans. Even though their birds (Scolopax rusticola) a lot bigger, the way they Europeans hunt them is very similar to how we do things over here. Check out this video from Greece to see what I mean. There’s some cool shots of birds migrating in at night that you don’t want to miss.

And here’s a nice little video of a Euro Woodcock feeding in the snow. Beautiful bird:

Finally, here’s a good closeup of a Euro woodcock flushing over some English Pointers. I think this video is from Italy:
