Today was slow, more work than play. After three days of hunting hard, Puck was beat. I gave her most of the day off.
We didn’t start hunting until about 3pm. We found a handful of woodcock and moved four grouse. The grouse were spooky and they flushed wild, so no shots. The woodcock held tight, but I only had a chance at one. I blew both shots. My idea of conservation.
The moose hunting season is in full swing over here in western Maine.
I spent some time this AM checking out the action over at the tagging station. I saw three moose come in – one dressed out at about 754lbs. That’s big for a Maine moose. The biggest this tagging station has seen so far is 802lbs.
