Own a best-quality British shotgun? Here’s the perfect place to store it. The rare James Woodward & Sons shotgun cases below are on Ebay now. Both are being offered at No Reserve.

Brady and other companies in the UK built cases like these for Woodward, Westley Richards, Purdey, and other makers. When a customer ordered a gun, the case was optional (so were the accessories). Most makers offered cases in different qualities. Oak & Leathers were the best, the most expensive, and the most durable. They were also the heaviest. The all-leather cases were rugged, but a bit smaller and several pounds lighter.

The cases you see here are in great shape, and because they include their original labels and some of their original Woodward accessories, both are incredible finds.

  1. I’d hate to be the guy who bought the gun at the auction last year and not get the case with it….kind of a shame I assume the case and gun were together for years and now separated?

    Woodward #6602: a 16 gauge Over-Under shotgun with a 14 1/8″ straight grip and 28″ barrels. This shotgun was Lot #2163 in James D. Julia’s Spring, 2013, Gun Auction.

  2. I hear, ya. These cases were discovered after the shotguns were auctioned off. The 16g & 20g Woodward O/Us had been stored in single-gun leather A&F motor cases for decades.

The family that has these cases has been selling off a number of nice guns, and many of these guns have been cased. When the cases add value to the shotguns contained inside them (like a 12g Purdey SxS in its original maker’s case with original accessories), the cases and guns have been auctioned off together.

    Thanks

    Gregg
