  1. Hi Gregg

Interested to see you highlighted the Daly in this recent group of 5 guns. I had already been looking at it. A beautiful gun by any standard but I have a question for you as you obviously follow the market on vintage guns much more closely than I do. $27,500 seems quite high for the gun near as I can tell, but it is a 20 gauge so there is a rarity factor. I believe this gun changed hands 4 years ago at auction in the $10,000 range. Any thoughts of the asking price?

  2. Hey, James.

I usually don’t comment on prices. I wouldn’t pay that much for it, but someone may think it’s a fair price.

I’m more interested in how unusual or special a gun.

Where did this gun trade hands for, btw? I don’t remember seeing it on the market.

And I’ve seen 20g Dalys sell for far more.

    Sorry for my tardy response.

    Thanks for the comment.

    Gregg

  3. Hi Gregg

Thanks for following up. I kinda thought that might be the case regarding not commenting much on the price. It sold in a James Julia auction in 2016 IIRC.

I guess it’s partly that I hardly ever see a 20 ga Lindner and so didn’t really have a handle of the sub gauge premium. Looking at realized auction prices over the last 10 years (about 60 guns that I have found and recorded) there are only a couple that show up but the premium seemed to be slight.

BTW, I really enjoy the blog especially the 5 guns.

  4. Oh, yeah. There it is. Huh. Guess the seller is very hopeful.

Glad you like the blog. Thanks for the kind words & the comment.

    Gregg
