It’s with tremendous sadness that write this post. Sky, Lexi’s half sister and my third pointer, padded away on Wednesday, 1/6. She was almost 5 years old.

Sky had a health issues all fall. They escalated in the middle of December. She was in pain and had trouble walking. She improved from Christmas to New Year’s day, but on Saturday, 1/2, things went down hill.

We admitted her to Angell Medical Center’s emergency unit on Tuesday morning. After a lot of testing and consulting with their vets, we decided euthanasia was the only way to end her suffering. We put her down Wednesday evening.

  1. READ THE POEM RAINBOW BRIDGE I RECOMEND IT WHEN LOOSING A MOST ADORING FRIEND YOU HAD

  2. What a tragic turn for a dog in her prime, and for you after your recent loss. It’s hard to know what to say when things like this happen, but believe that every bird dog owner feels something of your loss. I know I do.

  3. Gregg,

So very sorry for your loss. It is tough enough when our canine friends pass at the end of a long life, but to loose one so much before their time must be almost unbearable.

  4. Sad days Greg, I have known many and share your grief.
Ben Ames Williams said, ” A dog does not live as many years as men and this is the fount of many tears. If a boy and puppy might live from boyhood and puppy hood together, and together grow old, and so in due course die, full many a heartache might be avoided. But the world is not so ordered. And dogs will die and men will weep for them as long as there are dogs and men.”
Gene Hill said,” Whoever said money can’t buy happiness, forgot about new puppies”
Been there too many times, hang in there.
    Best regards, Tim Earney

  5. Very sad deal, that. Surely the hardest choicea sportsman must make . My heart feels a sympathetic pang. RIP Sky.

  6. I hate the early demise of any dog. Have had many. Don’t know if you are doing it but feeding only animal protein and no grain is a big deal. If your interested you can contact me
