Auction Alert – Prussian Charles Daly SxS Double Rifle…

No, that’s not a typo. A made-in-Prussia Charles Daly side-by-side double rifle is coming up to auction this Sunday, 2/27. Redding Auction Service in Gettysburg, PA, has it, and the gun looks very crisp and all original.

I’ve never seen or heard of an original side-by-side, double rifle by Charles Daly. The auctioneer’s told me that it’s in 30-40 Krag, an old military cartridge that’s great for everything up to whitetails and black bears to elk. They also say it has Krupp fluid steel barrels. From what I can tell, it doesn’t look like a Lindner-made gun, either.

Value wise, I think this is $6,000 – $7,500 is a fair price for this gun. However, because of its rarity and condition, it could go for a lot more. If two Daly collectors decide they have to have it, the price could go well above $10,000.

BTW: there’s a few other nice gun in this auction. You can see the entire listing here.
