W & C Scott .410 – 1926, EJECTORS, 28”, IN PROOF, NICE WOOD: Serial Number: 98002. 5lbs 1oz, Chokes F/F, LOP 14 1/2″, DAH 2 13/16″, DAC 1 9/16″. What a delightful find we have here with a W & C Scott and Sons baby frame .410 BOXLOCK EJECTOR GUN WITH 28” BARRELS AND A FULL-LENGTH ORIGINAL BUTTSTOCK MEASURING 14 ½” LOP TO THE HORN BUTTPLATE.  I emphasize this as most British made .410 doubleguns have short barrels and short stocks, and usually are extractor only guns built for youthful shooters or ladies.  To find an example of a “full-size” .410 from a well-known British maker with a London address on the barrels is a treasure in hand!  This gun, sn98002, was built in 1926 and is in excellent condition, STILL IN PROOF WITH 2 ½” CHAMBERS AND BORE DIAMETER OF .411.  Weighing just 5lbs. 1oz. and balanced just ahead of the hinge pin, this is a true, scaled frame, boxlock ejector.  The hard-to-find 28” barrels have tight ribs, mirror shiny bores choked F/F, with no dents or dings, newly reblacked to perfection, fit tight as new to the hinge pin and breech face, and the engraved maker’s name and address still sharp and clear on the barrels.  The action and mechanics are superb, as this is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, HAVING BEEN STRIPPED TO THE SMALLEST PART, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, EACH PART INSPECTED FOR INTEGRITY AND FUNCTION, PROPERLY LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED, NOW WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  The action retains about 30% fading factory original case color and the bottom plate retains 80% of the original blue, the ejectors are strong and timed, triggers are crisp, screws are excellent, fine English scroll engraving and fancy borders adorn the action in a most pleasant way.  The action is tight with the lever right of center.  The wood is well figured and freshly restored to perfection with hand-rubbed Truoil finish to bring out the figure.  The wood-to-metal fit is tight, the original flat-topped checkering has been cleaned up, and there are no chips or cracks anywhere.  THIS IS A GORGEOUS LITTLE BRITISH .410!  The stock dimensions are modern (see table below), and this gun is ready to shoot for another 95 years with proper care.  It is a rare find to have all the best features found in a scaled frame .410, ie 28” barrels, in proof, long LOP, ejectors, superb mechanics, and freshly restored barrels, trigger guard, and wood…there is nothing left to do but go break a few clays and then let the quail, woodcock, or other upland game realize that you are deadly with this diminutive British double.  This is an investment grade gun that you will enjoy as it continues to grow in value and demand will never cease for such a gun.  Don’t hesitate, as this one won’t last long at the fair price we are presenting here. Price: $6,750

Good gun alert: A great looking 12g Greifelt O/U …

Greifelt Over/Under German 12 ga Shotgun.
Greifelt Over/Under German 12 ga Shotgun.

Here is a fantastic shotgun. It’s a 12g Greifelt Grade No. 1 over under. This shotgun was built on a boxlock-style OU action, and it features Purdey-style underbites and a Kersten-style topbolt. It is incredibly well made.

Check out how fine the slots are on the pins in the action. Look at the checkering. Take a close look out the engraving. Now try to find that kind of quality on another gun priced at $2499.99.

Firearms with stacked barrels have been around for hundred of years. But they did’t take off until German makers like Merkel and then London’s Boss & Co. started building them. I’m not sure when the first German-made OUs made it into the US, but I’m pretty sure Boss’s design could be ordered through retailers here soon after the gun was patented in 1909.

Von Lengerke & Detmold in NYC imported Greifelt OUs in the 1920s. Back then, the Grade No. 1 was a $400 gun and a Parker BHE cost around $330.00. Stoeger was imported Merkels at around the same time, and an outfit called Sloan’s was bringing in German-made OUs made built by Heym and Adamy.

If you have an old German OU, please let me know. I love these guns, and I’m always on the lookout for them.

28 gauge Gebruder Adamy Diamond-grade Double-barrel Over-Under shotgun
28 gauge Gebruder Adamy Diamond-grade Double-barrel Over-Under shotgun

Here’s a second chance to get a great looking little shotgun. This over-under is back on the market: GEBR ADAMY DIAMOND GRADE 28 GAUGE OVER UNDER SHOTGUN

I put up a post about this shotgun a few months ago. It hit the market and sold right away. It’s easy to see why. With a straight grip, double triggers, and all that original condition, it’s an awesome little 28 gauge. I’m sure it will see just as quickly this time around.

Gebruder Adamy has been making guns since 1921. This shotgun was made in Germany around 1925, and it was probably brought into this country by an outfit like like Sloan’s Sporting Goods or Abercrombie & Fitch.

Here’s more about this double barrel from the seller:

I knew this sexy little 28 gauge O/U wouldn’t last long…

28 Gauge pre-war Diamond Grade Adamy O/U Double Barrel Shotgun
28 Gauge pre-war Diamond Grade Adamy O/U Double Barrel Shotgun

Good guns at fair prices have a tendency to sell fast. Sometimes, just how fast amazes me. This rare, 28 Gauge pre-war Diamond Grade Gebruder Adamy O/U popped up on Gunsinternational yesterday and sold in less than 24 hours.

It’s easy to see why. It’s a beautiful little shotgun and it looks like it’s in excellent original condition. The price on it was pretty fair, too. I think it was $4950.

Gebruder Adamy is a German gunmaker who has been in business since 1921. According to the seller’s listing, this shotgun was made in 1925. It was made for the American market and it may have been imported by a company’s like Sloan’s Sporting Goods or Abercrombie & Fitch. I really like the straight grip and the double triggers. I bet the gun’s new owner will like them, too. He got himself a great little shotgun.

Here’s more info on it from the seller’s listing:
