RUGER RED LABEL 28 GA., 28” BARRELS, 5 CHOKE TUBES & WRENCH, OUTSTANDING WOOD, AS NEW IN THE BOX WITH OWNERS MANUA
Here’s a double you don’t see every day–and may never see again.
It’s a 28 gauge Parker BHE built in 1916. When it was made, Quality B.H. guns were the 4th down in the company’s lineup, below the A. No. 1 Special, the A.A.H., and the A.H. (the first Invincible was completed in 1923).
Parker only made 1,034 B.H. grade guns. That’s not many, especially for a company that built 247,000+ doubles in all. Most of those B.H. grades were 12s. As it says below, only four were 28 gauges.
Parker Bros. BHE, 28ga, original 26″ Acme Steel barrels. Double triggers, automatic ejectors, and automatic safety. 1916. 1 of 4 made.
Parker Bros. BHE, 28ga, original 26″ Acme Steel barrels. Double triggers, automatic ejectors, and automatic safety. 1916. 1 of 4 made. “00” frame. Double triggers, automatic ejectors, and automatic safety. The gun is fabulously engraved with scroll and floral pattern – a special order feature. It has 2-7/8″ original chambers with excellent bright shiny bores, measuring .563 right and .557 left. Full length matted top rib with proper original Acme barrel legend. The gun has a capped pistol grip, inlaid with a gold cap and a large “H” engraved on the cap. Original skeleton buttplate with traces of original blue remaining. Stock dimensions in the factory letter are LOP of 14-1/4″ with drop-at-comb of 1-3/4″ and drop-at-heel of 3-1/8″. The gun has these exact specifications today. Weight is 5lbs 7oz – exactly as found in the PGCA letter. Barrel blue is excellent and all original and appears to be in the 75% range. Price:$59,500

Parker AHE 12ga SxS Double Barrel Shotgun, ½ Frame Factory Two Barrel Set 26” and 28” Single Selective Trigger
Both sets of barrels are 90% or better. Both sets of barrels lock up tight and on the face. There is no corrosion either inside or outside either set of barrels. There are no dents or dings on either set of barrels. Ejectors for both sets of barrels work properly and are in time.
The forearm wood shows little to no use. All checkering on both forearms is in very fine condition. There are no issues with either forearm.
The Stock checkering is in very fine condition showing little use. The stock was cut and subsequently lengthened with the installation of 3/4″ total in spacers. The Hawkins Pad is period correct. The Parker letter does not indicate the stock treatment. There are a few handling marks on both sides of the stock.
The action has 90% or better case colors. There are Pheasant on the right and Quail on the left. The bottom is engraved with two Setters and a fence row. All screws are in fine condition and in time. The gold grip cap is in place and has initials engraved in it as well as a finely engraved border.
This is a fine condition Late Remington Parker AHE. This is one of the last three AHE’s manufactured according to the Parker Story. According to the Parker Story there were only 4 total 12 gauge AHE’s manufactured with 26” Fluid Steel Barrels. There were only 18 total 12 gauge AHE’s manufactured with 28” Fluid Steel Barrels. This is also on a desirable and scarce Parker ½ Frame action. This combination makes this Parker extremely rare and possibly the only one manufactured. With the exception of the stock modifications listed above the firearm shows little use. The firearm matches the Parker Letter. This is a no excuses, no speculation, verified factory two barrel, high grade, 1/2 Frame firearm that can easily take its place as the centerpiece of a collection. Both barrel sets are stamped ½ and all measurements on the action confirm this is a ½ frame 12ga. Price:$55,000

1916 Parker BHE 20ga with 32″ Barrels 20 ga SxS: Very rare, highly collectable 1916 Parker BHE (serial #174053) with straight stock and 32″ barrels. This Parker remains in high original condition with very good stock, B engraved receiver and Acme steel barrels. It is apparent that this shotgun has likely spent a lot of it’s 100 year old life tucked away in someone’s safe, leg-o-mutton gun case or closet. Shotguns of this quality rarely come up for auction as they are usually socked away in someone’s collection for many years and then passed on to family members, never to be seen by the general public. The consignor, after only a brief ownership, brought this Parker to me with hopes of alleviating homefront tensions. This little SxS features a straight stock, 32″ barrels with shiney bores, ejectors (which work with authority), “0” frame and double triggers. All desireable options for any SxS, but especially a high grade Parker. LOP is at 13 7/8″, DAC is 1 1/2″, DAH is 2 3/4″ and it weighs in at 6 lb 8 oz. Both bores measure .618 with .018 constriction on the right barrel and .024 on the left. Lock up is Parker tight and there is no movement between the barrels and the receiver with the forearm off. This is a seldom seen opportunity to own a high grade Parker. Also included with this Parker is the original leg-o-mutton case that A.T. DeForest bought for it. USPS money orders preferred, with incentives to purchase with money orders or cash.
If you’re a Parker fanatic with deep pockets, grab your check book. Here’s a super rare one, and even though it’s 100 years old, it looks like this side-by-side remains in incredible original condition.
According to the Parker collector’s site, Parker Bros made just over 1,000 BH-grades (which are Quality Bs without hammers — BH). I imagine very, very few of those were 20 gauges with 32″ barrels, ejectors (the E in BHE) and straight grips.

Carol Watson’s Orange Coast Auctions in Irvine, CA, is having a big sale tomorrow. There are a number of good doubles in it. Here are a couple that caught my eye. And if you like Parker Repro, be sure you take a look through the entire sale. There are a lot of them listed, and some of them (like a couple I pointed out) are very hard to find.

In Catholic School, the nuns taught us that to covet is to sin. The second I saw this double barrel shotgun, I sinned. It’s a 16 gauge Parker BHE and it appears to be all original.
Parker made just 1,034 BH-grade hammerless shotguns. This one was built in 1924 and it was ordered with Extra Fine Damascus barrels – an unusual choice for such a later Parker. At $35,000 it’s not cheap. But judging by what nice, high-grade Parkers are bringing these days, it’s not that expensive, either.
Twelve gauge, BH-grade Parkers aren’t hard to find. Even though they were an expensive, custom ordered double, the company made 1,034 of them as hammerless side-by-sides.
But when you start adding in features like 32″ barrels, a single, selective trigger (introduced in 1921) and a vent rib, you’re talking about a very scarce Parker double barrel shotgun. Parker started delivering SxS shotguns with vent ribs around 1923, and they didn’t become popular options until 1926. In all, the company probably added this feature to fewer than 750 doubles.
PARKER BHE TRAP VENT RIB 12 GAUGE: #207XXX #1 FRAME 32″ VENT RIB FULL AND FULL 2 3/4 SINGLE SELECT TRIGGER EJECTORS BEAVER TAIL FOREARM ENGLISH GRIP EXCELLENT ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH CASE COLORS. 8LBS 7 OZ X. 2 1/4: X 1 7/8″ X 14 1/2″. Price: $18,500
The 16 Parker DHE I wrote about this AM is a tough gun to find. But the Parker you see here is even harder to track down. It’s a 16g BHE.
According to the Parker Gun Collector’s Association, the Parker company made just 1,034 B- grade hammerless shotguns. Of those, I bet very few came with in 16 gauge a straight, ejectors, shootable dimensions, and 28″ damascus barrels, like this one.
Called “Hansome and Durable” by Parker Bros, B grades were the fifth grade from the top (Invincible, A1-Special, AAH, AH, BH) and always custom made. They came standard with Circassian walnut stocks and they featured checkered side panels with fancy fleur-de-lis drop points.
Parker BHE, 16 ga, 28″, Double Barrel SxS Shotgun: #208XXX, 28” Damascus bbls, 2 9/16 ” chambers, IM/M chokes. Lop: 14 5/8 ” LOP, 2 5/8 ” DOH, Skeleton buttplate, 6 lbs, 12 oz. Made in 1924. Stock: Original finish. Metal: Original finish, Concave File Cut rib. Price: $35,000
BTW: If you’ve ever wondered about the strength of damascus steel barrels, make note that this gun was made in 1924 – well after nitro powders had become the standard in the industry.
