Exceptionally rare and near mint Lightweight Parker CHE 12ga game gun with ventilated rib – Straight stocked w/ double triggers – a true rarity!

Exceptionally rare and near mint Lightweight Parker CHE 12ga game gun with ventilated rib – Straight stocked w/ double triggers – a true rarity: Very rare gun made in 1927 on a #1 Frame, this Parker CHE Grade with 28″ Acme Steel barrels that have factory original Ventilated rib.  Made with splinter forend, nickel plated double triggers, straight grip buttstock with very fine French Walnut, which terminates with an older Silvers type pad.  The gun matches the serialization book exactly as found and is engraved in typical CHE Grade pattern with large flying goose on the trigger plate.

Known as an option “21” in the Parker Gun Identification and Serialization book, this is an exceptionally rare gun.  The barrels retain more than 98% original blue.  The frame retains virtually all of its bold original case color.  The trigger guard retains more than 95% of its original blue.  Stocks are excellent to near mint with nearly all of their original hand rubbed finish remaining with only minor handling marks.  Bores are brilliant and shiny and the mechanics are crisp.  The breechface shows almost no use and this is very much a near mint gun.  Metal and wood finishes are guaranteed original. Price: $21,500

What a delightful find we have here with a W & C Scott and Sons baby frame .410 BOXLOCK EJECTOR GUN WITH 28” BARRELS AND A FULL-LENGTH ORIGINAL BUTTSTOCK MEASURING 14 ½” LOP TO THE HORN BUTTPLATE.  I emphasize this as most British made .410 doubleguns have short barrels and short stocks, and usually are extractor only guns built for youthful shooters or ladies.  To find an example of a “full-size” .410 from a well-known British maker with a London address on the barrels is a treasure in hand!  This gun, sn98002, was built in 1926 and is in excellent condition, STILL IN PROOF WITH 2 ½” CHAMBERS AND BORE DIAMETER OF .411.  Weighing just 5lbs. 1oz. and balanced just ahead of the hinge pin, this is a true, scaled frame, boxlock ejector.  The hard-to-find 28” barrels have tight ribs, mirror shiny bores choked F/F, with no dents or dings, newly reblacked to perfection, fit tight as new to the hinge pin and breech face, and the engraved maker’s name and address still sharp and clear on the barrels.  The action and mechanics are superb, as this is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, HAVING BEEN STRIPPED TO THE SMALLEST PART, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, EACH PART INSPECTED FOR INTEGRITY AND FUNCTION, PROPERLY LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED, NOW WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  The action retains about 30% fading factory original case color and the bottom plate retains 80% of the original blue, the ejectors are strong and timed, triggers are crisp, screws are excellent, fine English scroll engraving and fancy borders adorn the action in a most pleasant way.  The action is tight with the lever right of center.  The wood is well figured and freshly restored to perfection with hand-rubbed Truoil finish to bring out the figure.  The wood-to-metal fit is tight, the original flat-topped checkering has been cleaned up, and there are no chips or cracks anywhere.  THIS IS A GORGEOUS LITTLE BRITISH .410!  The stock dimensions are modern (see table below), and this gun is ready to shoot for another 95 years with proper care.  It is a rare find to have all the best features found in a scaled frame .410, ie 28” barrels, in proof, long LOP, ejectors, superb mechanics, and freshly restored barrels, trigger guard, and wood…there is nothing left to do but go break a few clays and then let the quail, woodcock, or other upland game realize that you are deadly with this diminutive British double.  This is an investment grade gun that you will enjoy as it continues to grow in value and demand will never cease for such a gun.  Don’t hesitate, as this one won’t last long at the fair price we are presenting here. Price: $6,750

Fox A Grade 16 Gauge – RARE WELL-FIGURED ENGLISH STOCK, Vintage Firearms, Inc

Fox A Grade 16 Gauge – RARE WELL-FIGURED ENGLISH STOCK, Vintage Firearms, Inc: General Specs: Year 1937, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 4oz, Chokes IC/IM Factory, LOP 14 1/8″, DAH 2 3/16″, DAC 1 3/8″
Serial Number: 303595. Ansley H. Fox created a timeless, high quality, simply designed box lock at his A.H. Fox Gun Co. in Philadelphia, PA.  Most vintage side x side lovers are well-aware the 20ga. and 16ga. Fox guns are the most dynamic, lightweight, best handling American double guns ever created.  Best of all, the 16ga. guns were all built on the diminutive 20ga. frame.  This Fox A Grade, sn303595 made in 1937, is one of only 2500 Fox A Grade 16ga. guns ever made, with about 2200 remaining in existence due to loss and destruction, so there are few offered for sale.  Only 10% or so were ever made with the English style stock, or maybe a few hundred in existence.  IF YOU ARE ONE WHO LOVES STRAIGHT STOCKED UPLAND GUNS…THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO OWN THE PERFECT LITTLE FOX 16GA.!  Straight gripped guns almost never surface for sale.  In this Fox we have a solid gun with excellent screws, factory 26” number 3 weight barrels factory choked IC/IM with mirror bores, factory bore diameter, 99% rich rust blue, double ivory beads, and lots of barrel wall thickness (see tables below for specs).  The ribs are tight, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face with the top lever right of center…like a new gun.  Take a good look at the photos and you will see a truly gorgeous Fox A Grade that has everything going for it.  She is one of those guns that just looks “right”.  The wood figure and finish is stunning, the wood-to-metal fit is superb, the action retains 70% factory case color and the engraving is sharp and clear, …JUST A CLASSY LOOKING FOX!  Even the genuine Silvers pad has that aged look and is fit to perfection.  Search long and hard and you will not find another Fox A Grade 16 with all these great features.  What a great upland gun choked perfect for nearly any bird on the North American continent.  Weighing just 6 1/4lbs. you can carry this gun all day over hill and dale without getting “long arms” by the end of the day.  This is a gun with enough wear on it that you will not feel bad taking it afield and shooting your vintage gun at clay targets.  This is the epitome of an investment quality Fox with desirable features, and affordability.  Price: $5,950

Gebruder Merkel 12 Gauge – MOD. 127E, PRE-WAR SIDELOCK SIDE-BY-SIDE, MINTY

Gebruder Merkel 12 Gauge – MOD. 127E, PRE-WAR SIDELOCK SIDE-BY-SIDE, MINTY: Year 1926, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 2oz, Chokes F/F, LOP 14 1/4″, DAH 2 3/4″, DAC 1 5/8″, Serial Number: 14777. I have been collecting, buying, and selling fine shotguns for over 30 years.  It is a treasure hunt extraordinaire that I have enjoyed immensely.  There are times when you think you have seen it all, and then you come across a truly rare and amazing shotgun.  Merkel has been building fine firearms since 1898 and built its first side x side in 1914.  Mostly known for their fine shotguns made post-WWII after the lifting of the Iron Curtain, it is their PRE-WAR guns that collectors and shooters covet most.  Pre-war Gerbruder Merkel is associated with finely crafted over/under guns more than the side x side guns.  I have seen many of their over/unders.  However, I was unaware of their BEST GUN sidelock side x sides known as the Model 127E as shown here with the fine Merkel we are offering for sale today.  This Merkel, sn14777 built in 1926, remains in incredible factory original condition with 99% factory barrel blue, 99% vivid, bold factory case color, 99% charcoal blue trigger guard, and 98% factory finish remaining on the wonderfully figured European walnut stocks.  This is a Holland & Holland style 9-pin sidelock action, complete with beaded fences, sculpted bolster on the frame, cocking indicators, and ALL GOLD-WASHED INTERNALS, INCLUDING THE EJECTOR RODS, EJECTOR HAMMERS, COCKING RODS, TRIGGERS, AND ALL PARTS OF THE LOCKS INCLUDING THE PINS THAT SHOW TO THE OUTSIDE.  You just don’t see these features on anything but the company’s finest offering of the day.  The engraving is the most detailed and perfectly executed rose and scroll engraving I have witnessed from any maker in the world.  Study the photos on our and you will see what I mean.  The gun is in as new condition both visually and mechanically.  This is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  We have stripped the action and forend to its smallest parts, Ultrasonic cleaned the old, dried oil from all the parts, inspected all for function and integrity, lubricated all and reassembled.  The barrels have a wedge of engraving on the Krupp Steel rib, are tight on face and the hinge pin like a new gun, with ribs tight and barrels that ring true.  See the specifications below for stock measurements, chokes, barrel wall thickness, etc.  This is a rare gun, and a rare opportunity to own the finest Merkel has ever offered as a named Model 127E.  Thanks for looking! Price: $17,950

Westley Richards 12g and .500 BPE 562 Grade Cape Gun
Westley Richards 12g and .500 BPE 562 Grade Cape Gun

Westley Richards 12g and .500 BPE 562 Grade Cape Gun: Made between the two World Wars and remaining in remarkably high original condition. Westley Richards & Co. offered multi-barreled rifle and shotgun combination guns for much of the first half of the twentieth century. These were offered in two-barrel side by side “Cape Gun” configurations as well as three-barrel drillings. In a supplemental list from 1912 of items offered by Westley’s at the time, these guns were listed as: “…made in all bores, suitable for Indian, African, and Colonial sports. Special attention and care are given to the most essential features, viz:-durability, boring, fine cutting of the rifling, the fitting and adjustment of the sights, and regulation of the shooting. Every gun is guaranteed accurately sighted and shot.”.  This is a 562 Grade completed November 14, 1924 for Mahomedally Noorbhoy, Bombay.  The combination shotgun and rifle is built on an A&D fixed lock, non-ejector action with a Greener type crossbolt, listed in our ledgers as a “treble bite with tang lever”. The color hardened action has two triggers, automatic beetle back safety, and is absent any engraving save for the Maker’s name and an engraved thin-line border with “cut-away” fences.
The dovetailed lump, 28″ barrels are of Westley Richard’s Special Quality steel and bear the “Golden Triangle” trademark. The full-length matted rib has a slightly raised quarter rib, fitted with two folding leaves and a Tangent sight and a ramp front sight with a low profile brass beaded sight blade. The sight leaves are platinum lined and engraved (100, 200, 300-1,200 yds) respectively.  The barrel is also engraved: “Westley Richards & Co. Birmingham”, “562 Grade” and “.500 Express 3 Inch Case Black Powder”.  The walnut stock has a nice straight figure, a semi-pistol grip, and a 14 1/2″ LOP over a smooth steel butt. The splinter forend has a matching steel forend tip with a Deeley latch. The rifle is finished with traditional sling eyes and the stock oval remains blank. On the bottom of the buttstock, just behind the pistol grip, the wood is correctly stamped “Made in England”. Gun retains nearly all of it is original color hardening and it remains vivid still protected by the original lacquer. The stock and barrels remain equally well preserved, retaining nearly all the original oil finish on the stock and nearly all of the original barrel black. The bores remain perfect, in both the shotgun and rifled barrels and are dent and rust free and all original. These combination guns from Westley Richards are quite rare today in any condition. And this gun is in as nice a condition as any collector could ask for. But for a gun made to a price point and intended to be used in the World’s most demanding environments, the overall quality and handling of the gun is superb and to find it so well preserved, is nothing short of a miracle. Price: $15,000

Remington 1874 Whitmore ( SN # 19) 12 Ga. Shotgun, Early Engraved Barrel Address:
Remington 1874 Whitmore ( SN # 19) 12 Ga. Shotgun, Early Engraved Barrel Address:

Remington 1874 Whitmore ( SN # 19) 12 Ga. Shotgun, Early Engraved Barrel Address: This is the earliest Remington Whitmore Model 1874 I have ever seen. It has all matching serial numbers, #19. The original, engraved barrel address is truly a unique early feature. It is also engraved around the patent dates right in front of the lifter. The case hardening under the barrel on the frame and on the forearm steel is vivid. The case hardened locks and breech have turned a beautiful silver just like an old 1873 SAA. The 30-inch blued barrels go from blue to a thinning blue and plum color. The bores are in nice condition with a small amount of light pitting. This early hammer shotgun remains tight and the action is as solid as it was in 1874. The hammers cock crisply with a fine release on the triggers. The rebounding fire pins are just as crisp as the rest of the action. The buttstock is solid with no cracks but an inch and one-half above the steel butt plate there are two rack marks, one on each side (pictured) which are period usage. Fortunately, no one has ever tried to work on them. This is a beautiful and early American-made Remington cartridge shotgun that would stand proud in any fine Remington collection. Price: $1650

Connecticut Shotgun RBL 16ga. – 29”, AS NEW, “RESERVE” VINTAGE FIREARMS INC: Serial Number: RBL004829. General Specs: Connecticut Shotgun, 2015±, 16 Ga, Weight 6lbs 12oz, Chokes LM/M, LOP 14 3/4″, DAH 2 1/2″, DAC 1 1/2″.  Many of you that enjoy shooting with the side by side shotgun are familiar with Tony Galazan’s well received RBL series of round bodied guns.  The gun presented here is an as new RBL RESERVE series from Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Co.  The RBL is a robust gun with excellent mechanics and a very appealing look with its bone and charcoal case colored receiver, gold plated triggers, and nicely figured walnut stock.  This gun shipped with 29” barrels that retain 100% of their fine rust blue, perfect bores, choked LM/M.  The metal overall retains 99.9% of the factory finishes, with the only wear of any kind at the safety on the top tang.  The wood has a very nice figure and retains all of its original finish and perfect checkering.  The gun balances dead on the hinge pin and has a very solid feel and comes to shoulder the way a fine side x side is supposed to.  Galazan has a solid performer with his RBL.  We have priced this gun to sell quickly, as I do not believe it has ever been in the field or used much at all.  There is only the faintest hint of a primer ring on the standing breech indicating very little shooting.  The RBL Reserve is a solid investment and will do you well on the sporting clays course or in the field. Price: $3,550
