W & C Scott .410 – 1926, EJECTORS, 28”, IN PROOF, NICE WOOD
W & C Scott .410 – 1926, EJECTORS, 28”, IN PROOF, NICE WOOD

W & C Scott .410 – 1926, EJECTORS, 28”, IN PROOF, NICE WOOD: Serial Number: 98002. 5lbs 1oz, Chokes F/F, LOP 14 1/2″, DAH 2 13/16″, DAC 1 9/16″. What a delightful find we have here with a W & C Scott and Sons baby frame .410 BOXLOCK EJECTOR GUN WITH 28” BARRELS AND A FULL-LENGTH ORIGINAL BUTTSTOCK MEASURING 14 ½” LOP TO THE HORN BUTTPLATE.  I emphasize this as most British made .410 doubleguns have short barrels and short stocks, and usually are extractor only guns built for youthful shooters or ladies.  To find an example of a “full-size” .410 from a well-known British maker with a London address on the barrels is a treasure in hand!  This gun, sn98002, was built in 1926 and is in excellent condition, STILL IN PROOF WITH 2 ½” CHAMBERS AND BORE DIAMETER OF .411.  Weighing just 5lbs. 1oz. and balanced just ahead of the hinge pin, this is a true, scaled frame, boxlock ejector.  The hard-to-find 28” barrels have tight ribs, mirror shiny bores choked F/F, with no dents or dings, newly reblacked to perfection, fit tight as new to the hinge pin and breech face, and the engraved maker’s name and address still sharp and clear on the barrels.  The action and mechanics are superb, as this is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, HAVING BEEN STRIPPED TO THE SMALLEST PART, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, EACH PART INSPECTED FOR INTEGRITY AND FUNCTION, PROPERLY LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED, NOW WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  The action retains about 30% fading factory original case color and the bottom plate retains 80% of the original blue, the ejectors are strong and timed, triggers are crisp, screws are excellent, fine English scroll engraving and fancy borders adorn the action in a most pleasant way.  The action is tight with the lever right of center.  The wood is well figured and freshly restored to perfection with hand-rubbed Truoil finish to bring out the figure.  The wood-to-metal fit is tight, the original flat-topped checkering has been cleaned up, and there are no chips or cracks anywhere.  THIS IS A GORGEOUS LITTLE BRITISH .410!  The stock dimensions are modern (see table below), and this gun is ready to shoot for another 95 years with proper care.  It is a rare find to have all the best features found in a scaled frame .410, ie 28” barrels, in proof, long LOP, ejectors, superb mechanics, and freshly restored barrels, trigger guard, and wood…there is nothing left to do but go break a few clays and then let the quail, woodcock, or other upland game realize that you are deadly with this diminutive British double.  This is an investment grade gun that you will enjoy as it continues to grow in value and demand will never cease for such a gun.  Don’t hesitate, as this one won’t last long at the fair price we are presenting here. Price: $6,750

Parker VH 16 Gauge Side-by-Side SUPER CLEAN, CRISP, UNTOUCHED GUN!
Parker VH 16 Gauge Side-by-Side SUPER CLEAN, CRISP, UNTOUCHED GUN!

Parker VH 16 Gauge Side-by-Side SUPER CLEAN, CRISP, UNTOUCHED GUN!
General Specs: Parker, year 1931, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 6oz, SxS
Serial Number: 234883
I get to see a lot of fine Parker guns in my business, and high-grade guns to boot, but this fine Parker, sn234883 built in 1931, stands out because of its CLEAN, UNMOLESTED condition.  Another nicety is that it is a full 1/4lb. lighter than most 16ga. Parkers built on the #1 frame, weighing just 6lbs. 6oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin.  Look at the wood to metal fit, the checkering, the screws…they are factory original and superb.  All the finishes, including the wood finish, are factory original and untouched.  Virtually 99% factory case color remains on the receiver, bold and vivid (keep in mind the photo flash washes out some of the vividness. The colors show better in person), and 99% factory original blue on the barrels.  There is not one crack or split or repair anywhere in the wood, and the gun measures 14 1/4″ to the factory dogs head butt plate.  The 28″ barrels have no dings or pits, a few light handling marks, mirror perfect bores, unaltered 2 9/16″ chambers, rough barrel weight stamped at 3-5, and crisp clear lettering and rib matting. Even the factory jewelling at the breech face remains evident (see photos). You can look a long time and you will be hard-pressed to find a more genuine and crisp VH 16.  These guns are still a great investment, especially with high condition.  This is clearly an investment quality shotgun that has been carried and therefore can be used and shot with no loss of value.  If you want to see what near new, factory Parker case colors looked like, just check this one out.  They are not subtle, nor “pearlescent”, but bold and strong.  This fine Parker has it all; high factory condition, desirable features, good shooting dimensions, and the factory letter documenting the gun.  NICE!  Thanks for looking. Price: $8,950

B. & J. Cooper, New York. Extremely rare American, silver mounted, 23-bore double barreled flintlock sporting gun, ca.1810

B. & J. Cooper, New York. Extremely rare American, silver mounted, 23-bore double barreled flintlock sporting gun, ca.1810Extraordinarily rare and fine American, silver-mounted, 23-bore double barreled flintlock sporting gun in the best British tradition, ca.1810. Weight: 5 ½ Lbs.  Fine 30” Damascus steel barrels with gold-lined touch-holes, excellent bores (.590”/.590”), and which externally retain much of the original brown finish. Extremely high quality, mechanically perfect, locks with internal parts retaining most of the original fire blue color left from the final “drawing” or tempering required after quenching during the hardening process. Externally the locks retain much of the original finish even in the bottoms of the pans which show little evidence of use. Nicely engraved false breech with no corrosion whatever. Handsomely engraved fine silver mounts all in superb condition as is the highly figured American Walnut stock. Original horn-tipped ramrod with functional steel worm on the hidden end. B. & J. Cooper were set up at 19 Partition Street, New York, N.Y. from 1803 to 1831. They were primarily rifle and pistol maker’s and very highly regarded for their excellent workmanship, particularly for their dueling pistols some of which were silver mounted. This silver mounted double flintlock sporting gun we have here is the only example, of this quality, by this or any other American maker that I am aware of. Price: $ POR
