Beautiful, rare, and all original Parker $225 Grade 12ga Hammer Gun with 32" original barrels and excellent provenance
Beautiful, rare, and all original Parker $225 Grade 12ga Hammer Gun with 32″ original barrels and excellent provenance

Beautiful, rare, and all original Parker $225 Grade 12ga Hammer Gun with 32″ original barrels and excellent provenance: Made in 1880 on a #2 frame, this important Parker hammer gun was made to order for Judge Gildersleeve and the order for it taken by Charles Parker as noted in the PGCA research letter.  The gun was ordered as a $225 grade hammer gun (equivalenet to the B Grade) with 32″ barrels, and the order calls for a “nice stock”, very high rib, and chambered for 2-7/8″ shells.  The gun has a wedge fastened splinter forend, double triggers, fully checkered ball grip with gold oval, and skeleton buttplate.  It is beautifully engraved which I believe is the work of Jacob Glahn.  Engraved with rabbits on the right side which is quite beautiful and unusual! The gun remains in pleasing original condition being mechanically sound.  Bores are good for a gun of this vintage minor pitting ahead of chambers and orange peel.  Stocks are sound and original.  Engraving is quite nice as seen in the photos.  Comes with PGCA Research letter identifying the gun exactly as found today!  Judge Gildersleeve can be googled with a significant history to be found.  With modern dimensions, this gun is really quite a rarity! Price: $11,500

Holloway & Naughton 12g Sidelock Boss-style Over/Under Sidelock Ejector
Holloway & Naughton 12g Sidelock Boss-style Over/Under Sidelock Ejector

Holloway & Naughton 12g Sidelock Boss-style Over/Under Sidelock Ejector: A faithful rendition of the Boss & Co. Over/Under Sidelock Ejector patented in 1909 with the same type of bifurcated lumps and trunnion system. These are Protruding studs on the bottom barrel that lay into semi-circular slots on each side of the action. These studs act as the barrel’s lumps and require a much shallower action shape to work with the stacked barrels, giving the guns a slimmer profile. The action is color hardened with a R&S type engraving, signed by the trigger “DELAHAUT G.”, with gold lined cocking indicators and the word “SAFE” and the serial number inlaid in gold. The gun has a single non-selective mechanical trigger. Gun is very nicely stocked in with a highly figured French walnut with characteristic light honey color and very dark marbling with “fiddle back” radiating through the entire butt stock. Traditional drop points and point pattern checkering and a Woodward style grip with a trigger bow that extends to an ebony pistol grip cap. Stock has 15 ½” LOP over a checkered butt. The forend matches perfectly and uses the Boss type ejector system, also patented in 1909, with the long cocking rods housed in the with the same type of Boss extended forend iron that runs the top edge of the forend. The 30” demi-bloc barrels have a solid machine matted top rib and semi-circular Boss type rib extension. The gun has original 2 ¾” (70mm) chambers with 2006 London proof marks. The barrels are fitted with Teague chokes and carry 2009 Birmingham proof marks from when the chokes were added. Gun has most likely been fired but appears as new in a Maker’s lightweight leather “VC” case with canvas cover. Price: $42,500

Holloway (G&S) – 28 Gauge – B. Jenkins of NY, NY – 1952 build – 26” – M/IM – 14 3/4” LOP – 5 lbs!

Holloway (G&S) – 28 Gauge – B. Jenkins of NY, NY – 1952 build – 26” – M/IM – 14 3/4” LOP – 5 lbs!: A 28 Bore English Boxlock Ejector Game Gun that was imported by B. (Bob) Jenkinson, New York, N. Y. and so marked, Jenkinson imported a fair number of English guns in the 50’s & 60’s and I believe nearly all were made by Holloway, This 28 Bore was made in 1952, 26″ dovetail lump barrels at .550 .013 & .016″ (Mod. & Imp. Mod.), Original 2 3/4″ chambers, Proved in Birmingham at 3/4 ounce, Double triggers, Splinter forend with an Anson release, Straight hand stock at 14 3/4 x 1 1/2 x 2 1/4″ over a checkered butt, Slight cast-off with a swept comb that points like a dream, 28 bore weight at 5 lbs. 1 oz., 60% coverage of English scroll, Nice wood, The original barrel blue at 99%, The gun retains 98% original bright & vivid case colors, The stock finish is original and at 99%, The checkering at 100%, The blue on the floorplate, trigger guard, trigger guard tang and forend metal is 99%, The bores are as new from breech to muzzle, The gun is smack on the face with plenty of bite, The barrels ring with a nice chime. This is flat out one nice 1952 English boxlock with excellent workmanship on both the metal & wood. The stock inletting is superb and the checkering is as well cut as you will find on any English Best Sidelock. This is like buying it new in 1952. The Jenkinson serial # is 700 and the Holloway # is 22734. Holloway & Co. has been around since the 19th century. They had premises at 10-12 & 14 Vesey Street in Birmingham. In 1901 Tommy Naughton was the manager at Holloway & Co. and he bought the firm and it became Holloway & Naughton Ltd. but they continued business separately. G & S (George & Sidney) Holloway were for the most part makers to the trade and maintained an excellent reputation before and after WWII. About 1978 production of new Holloway guns was dropped but they continued with repairs. Graham Clive Holloway of G & S Holloway died in February of 1994 and that was the end of an era for G & S Holloway. To this day Holloway & Naughton shotguns are still made and manufactured to the client’s individual requirements and they can be found at hollowaynaughton.co.uk B. (Bob) Jenkinson was a dealer in many Holloway made guns during the 1950’s & 1960’s in New York City. Price: $11,995
