WESTLEY RICHARDS DROP LOCK (FUNERAL FINISH) 12 BORE SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN: 12 bore, 28″ barrels choked Imp & Imp ( .725″ both). Proofed 1 1/8 oz (chambers 2 3/4″) barrel wall thickness in excess of .040″. Bores measure .730″ The blued “FURNERAL FINISHED” receiver with hand detachable drop locks accessed through the hinged floorplate. Single selective trigger, auto ejector’s, top lever, splinter forend and straight grip buttstock measuring 14 1/16″ from the rear positioned trigger to a horn buttplate. Comb: 1 7/8″ Heel: 2 3/4″. Barrel flats are stamped with (MOD/IMP-CYL. Case-hardened 00 frame with lightening cuts in water table, automatic safety and double triggers. Action is engraved in DHE style with dogs on both sides and “PARKER” with pheasants on bottom. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Straight stock with silver oval and a skeletonized butt plate, (drop comb – 1.5″), (drop heel – 2.75″) with a slight right hand cast. Comes in tan leather case with leather corners and leather trimmed outer cover is lined in green cloth. Parker Reproduction oval label is in lid. Case contains a pair of snap caps and paperwork. Original wood with 14″ LOP over checkered butt. Almost no use but case coin finish on one side has turned dark due to sitting in case for many years. Same for one side of barrels where blue turning plum in a few spots. I guess due to adhesive glue used to affix felt in case-strange! Although triggers are set-up for left hand it is fairly neutral and can be shot right or left handed (cast is right down the middle). Virtually un-used gun. “Hi-Grade…..Ca.” import. Merkel 203E 20 Gauge – LUXUS SIDELOCK, 1952, 99%, GAME SCENE, Vintage Firearms Inc: Year 1952, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 3oz, Chokes IC/IM, LOP 14 1/2″, DAH 2 11/16″, DAC 1 1/2″ Serial Number: 36585 Merkel over/under shotguns have been dominating the European market since 1924. Of the various grades offered by this famed manufacturer, the 203E was the first grade in the lineup with full sidelock action, hand-detachable locks, Kirsten cross-bolts, double underlug barrels, beautifully figured European walnut stocks finely checkered, horn grip cap and butt plate, and slender three-piece forend wood. This gun, sn36585 built in 1952, is the LUXUS MODEL POSSESSING DEEPLY CHISELED GAME SCENE ENGRAVING, ORNATE CARVINGS AT THE WRIST ON THE BUTTSTOCK, AND ARTICULATED FRONT TRIGGER. Most gunners are aware that the earlier Merkel guns are superior to any put out in the 21rst century. This Merkel 203E Luxus is in perfect mechanical condition with super-strong ejectors, the triggers are crisp, the barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun. This gun has barely been fired and shows no signs of wear anywhere. ALL FINISHES ARE AT LEAST 99% AND ARE FACTORY FINISHES…NO RESTORATIONS ANYWHERE ON THE GUN. The deeply chiseled engraving is profuse and fully covers the action, showing fine foliate and oak leaf engraving surrounding encapsulating game scenes. The barrels at the breech are adorned with finely cut oak leaf engraving, as is the trigger guard. The hand-detachable locks are easily removed allowing easy access for cleaning, inspection, and repair. The inletting in the beautifully figured French walnut is done to perfection without a flaw or split anywhere. The wood-to-metal fit is superb and masterfully done. This is a BEST GUN in the way of beauty and workmanship. The modern steel barrels are of the highest quality and able to handle any of the modern factory loads, including any of the soft non-toxic shot readily available today. The 26” barrels are choked Improved Cylinder and Light Modifed…the perfect upland chokes. Using RST spreader loads in the top barrel and you have an incredible grouse gun. Auguste Francotte is world famous as a high-quality firearms maker from the gun making center of Leige, Belgium dating back as far as 1805. Still making fine shotguns with price tags starting at $18,000, Francotte is a brand recognized and used by heads of state, business tycoons, and in some cases, the fortunate “Average Joe”. Search long and hard, you will not find another Auguste Francotte like this one. First, this is the Model 20E, one of the higher grades A. Francotte offered in the boxlock ejector format and it has the sideplated action allowing for beautiful scroll engraving. Second, the gun is 70 years old and RETAINS 99% OF THE FACTORY FINISH, INCLUDING ALL OF THE BOLD, VIVID, ORIGINAL BONE AND CHARCOAL CASE COLORS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A HIGHER CONDITION FRANCOTTE 20E! Francotte guns are nicely built side by sides with a solid reputation for graceful looks and handling characteristics as well as rock solid dependability. This fine Francotte, sn89933 built in 1950, has seen little use. Beautifully hand engraved with FINE SCROLL ENGRAVING AND FOLIATE SCROLL BREECH BALLS, this is a very high-end side by side. The wood is nicely figured European walnut showing lots of fiddleback figure and rich dark streaking, with most of the factory finish still there and the factory 28LPI hand-cut checkering in excellent condition. There are field use marks in the buttstock wood, but all are superficial and there are no cracks or gouges in the wood. We can restore the wood for you if you wish in a short period of time for an added cost; just ask about this in-house service we provide. The gun weighs in at an ultra-light 5 3/4lbs. with its 26” Siemens Martin fluid steel barrels that are choked IC/M and have mirror perfect bores. It is a very dynamic shotgun with the balance point on the hinge pin. With the Prince of Wales style stock, it is lightning fast to the shoulder and puts a smile on your face when you handle her. The gun is mechanically excellent with strong, well timed ejectors, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, perfect screws, crisp triggers…all in perfect working order and in need of no work at all. THERE ARE 5 LOCKING POINTS ON THIS FRANCOTTE; A HIDDEN GREENER CROSS BOLT AT THE TOP RIB, DOUBLE UNDERLUG LOCKING BOLTS, SIDECLIPS, AND A THROUGH RECEIVER BARREL LUG, making sure the barrels are locked to the breech face laterally and vertically. A. H. Fox/Savage Sterlingworth Deluxe Brush Model: My personal benchmark gun. Decided after it being in the safe for several years that someone else needs to own it. Will start it out here for a week and see what happens. Specs are 26″ barrels choked .013 and .020 and bores of .729 per my Skeets, and 2 3/4″ chambers and ejectors. LOP to end of wood 13 1/4″. To end of Antiflinch Pad 14 1/4″. DAC 1 5/8″, DAH 2 7/8″. Weight and this is downright lovely is 6 lb 9 oz. A 12 bore made for bird hunting as they say. Serial Number. is 122114. Call this my benchmark gun because the case colors are just about mint. Slight fading on the underside, but they are all there. Blueing is 100 percent except for some small spot right around the top rib where Dan Rossiter from Custom Stocks and Steel, believed there may have been a bit oil or whatever missed when the factory did the barrels. Gun has been apart one time and that was by Dan when he checked the internals. He added the Antiflinch pad (forgot what was on it). Bought this at a small in Va from a collector. Gun’s bores were covered in cosmoline and per the house the gun had not been fired for over 50 years (who knows). Wasn’t fired much if at all. Some flaking on the finish in spots. I’ve done nothing to the gun and its time to move it on. Pictures when the sun comes up. Fads come and go. Back when these Parker Repros were being made, guys went nuts for short-barreled doubles with single triggers. Twenty-six inches was the preferred length for tubes. Anything longer was as passe as wearing a belt with suspenders.

Consequently, finding a Repro set up like this one is very hard to do. If you like what you see, get it. I bet this gun won’t be around long.

Fox XE 16 Gauge – FACTORY ORIGINAL, MINT CONDITION: Year 1919, 16 Gauge, 5lbs 12oz, Side-by-Side: Serial Number 300,790. During the 20 years of chasing A.H. Fox guns of all grades and gauges for my personal collection and to assist my clients to build their collections, the Fox XE 16ga. has been one of the most difficult to find. I have only seen 5 offered for sale in the last 10 years. This fine example could be the very best XE 16 on Mother Earth, as it has all original factory finishes retaining 99% case color, blue, and wood finish. Built in 1919, sn300790 is one of 90 factory-documented Fox XE guns built in 16ga., with only 79 of those the cherished Philly made guns. Some of these guns have disappeared so it is likely there are less than 70 or so left in the world. Of the 70, few have this much condition remaining and most have been significantly altered since leaving the factory. I have examined this gun inside and out, and it is a near new, factory original gun. The signature A.H. Fox case colors are not duplicated in today’s world. The engraving on this gun is exceptionally sharp and clear and from the prime era of Fox engraving. When you examine the order card you will notice it shows 3 ½” drop at the heel which is an error on the card as the gun has 2 ½” drop at heel and THE GUN MATCHES ALL OTHER DETAILS ON THE ORDER CARD including the long length of pull, gun weight, barrel weight and length. Errors were made when handwriting order cards. The gun came from the factory with the 2 ½” drop at heel. The factory marked serial number is on the head of the stock as shown in the photos. Weighing just 5lbs. 13oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, you would be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful A.H. Fox. This gun has it all…rarity, high grade, incredible factory original condition, desirable features and stock dimensions, perfect mechanics, mirror bores, gorgeous wood figure, perfect screws…an A.H. Fox gun for the advanced collector or avid shooter/collector. When you consider this is likely your only chance to own such a gun, it is a wise investment vehicle for your hard-earned funds at the price offered. Price: $27,950

Greifelt Grade 1 20ga O/U Double Barrel Shotgun: This beautiful little 20ga Greifelt remains in absolutely outstanding condition. With excellent scenes of birds on both sides of the action and delicate rose and scroll on the balance, it retains near 100% of the case colors. The 26″ barrels feature a solid rib with a metal bead; choked IC/IM with excellent bores and 98% bluing. The barrels also have rose and scroll engraving at the breech end. The scalloped boxlock action with a Kersten style top crossbolt and dual underlugs has dual triggers with the front trigger being articulated. The LOP is 14 1/2″ from the front trigger to the original horn buttplate. The dark-colored walnut straight gripped stock features the original finish and only has a couple of handling marks. Auguste Francotte 12 Gauge O/U Double Barrel Shotgun: This beautifully crafted Auguste Francotte 12 gauge Over/Under has deep engraving, nicely figured wood, Greener-type cross bolt, and auto ejectors. It would be a fine addition to the gun cabinet of shooters or collectors of O/U shotguns, as it is a great example of the origins of what has become the most popular type of doublegun. The 28” barrels have 2-3/4” chambers and are choked Improved Modified (.025) in the lower barrel and Full (.030) in the upper barrel. The wall thickness (right/left) for the lower barrel at 9” from muzzle is .035/.033 and at the middle of the barrel is .038/.036; the upper barrel is .035/.035 and .038/.038, respectively. Bores 9” from the breach are .729/.729. At some point in the gun’s history, the European-style sling mounts were removed from the lower barrel and stock. The stock and forearm are fine European walnut. The drop at the comb is 1-1/2” and at the heel 2-1/4”. Length of pull from the front trigger to the end of the wood is 14-1/4”. The butt of the stock is checkered. The gun locks up tight and on face; the top lever returns to the right of center. All serial numbers, 53774, match. Harris was the first of the Hollands in “Holland and Holland” and the founder if the initial company. This rifle is in excellent condition for a 140 year old rifle. It has been well taken care of. The 28″ damascus barrels have near excellent bores probably regulated by Bill Froome because it shoots excellent diagrams with black or smokeless powder. They have early Metford style rifling with square lands and grooves. LOP is 14″ to a steel shotgun style butt. It weighs 8 1/2 lbs. Load data appears on left action bar – characteristic of Holland rifles. There is about 60% coverage of fine English scroll crisp and like new. It is very tight and on face with a unique “dolls head” top rib projection – see photos. There are no “negatives” regarding this rifle. I will pay shipping to the contiguous 48. Lefever EE 16ga – Rare: Gun retains 50%-60% plus bright original overall case color on frame and sideplates. Roughly 85-90% original plum barrel blue. Original chokes and chambers- 2 5/8″ chambers and choked I/C and Mod. Excellent bores, 28″ Krupp fluid steel barrels. Original butt stock retains most of the original varnish and does have a white line pad on it. Splinter forearm which, while matches nicely, is likely an early Ithaca replacement based on the engraving and checkering pattern. Parker Reproductions Model DHE 20 Gauge SxS Shotgun:

In 1984, of of America’s most famous double-barrel shotguns was reborn as the Parker Reproduction by Winchester. Built in Japan until 1998, these side-by-sides were offered for sale until around 1997. Since then, they’ve gained a following and their prices have risen steadily.

There were about 6,000 20 gauge Parker Repros, and almost all of them were DHEs. Most of the ones I see out there have single triggers, so this caught my eye because of it double triggers. It’s up for auction now at Gunauction.com, and the listing ends: January 26, 2014 19:30:00 PT.
