Back when I was a kid, Brownings, Rugers, and then Beretta 686s were the classy OUs I dreamed about owning one day, and this 20g Browning Citori Superlight certainly would have been a shotgun that I fantasized about taking into the field with me.

It’s on Gunbroker.com now, and the online auction ends 5/28/2022 @ 8:15 PM.

The Browning Citori was the grandchild of the company’s first over-under shotgun — the Superposed.  First offered in 1973, Citoris are still around today and over the last 50+ years they have come in all sorts of styles and models.

You can learn more about Browning Citoris here in this article from Shooting Times and also here on their Wikipedia page.

The one you see here appears to be in excellent condition. These guns usually weigh under 6lbs, so it would be a great upland gun. Here’s more information about it from the seller:

This is the VERY RARE & DESIRABLE  “SuperLight” Model!!! Not the “Sporter” Model, the “Sporter” model is desirable as well, but nothing close to the “SUPERLIGHT“!!!

  • A quick way to tell the difference btw: the two is that the “SUPERLIGHT’s” WILL ONLY EXCEPT 2 3/4 inch shells! While the “Sporter” Model will except 3inch shells…
  • These “SUPERLIGHT’s” are OVER 1 POUND LIGHTER than their “Sporter” Model Cousin!!
  • Unlike today’s alloy framed & gloss finished Citori’s, this GEM is an ALL STEEL receiver and sports a gorgeous OIL FINISH that doesn’t show dings as ugly white scars the way gloss finishes do!!

STUNNING! 1985 Browning Citori SUPERLIGHT 20Ga! 95% COND! Factory ENGRAVED!

This Citori SUPERLIGHT is in excellent condition! If it wasn’t for the very small handling marks near the receiver, I would rate this at 99%+. But in no way do these small handling marks take away from the beauty of this piece!

OVERALL:
If you are looking for a super classy upland shotgun THIS IS IT!!!
This is one phenomenal over/under by Browning – arguably the best model for upland bird hunting with its light-weight, gorgeous English stock & undeniably sexy schnabel fore end!!!

Browning Superposed SuperLight 28ga & 20ga - 28” 26.5” - IC/M - ca. 1984 - The Ultimate Upland Combo - Only One in Existence
Browning Superposed SuperLight 28ga & 20ga – 28” 26.5” – IC/M – ca. 1984 – The Ultimate Upland Combo – Only One in Existence

Browning Superposed SuperLight 28ga & 20ga – 28” 26.5” – IC/M – ca. 1984 – The Ultimate Upland Combo – Only One in Existence: Gregoire Engraved and Signed – I acquired this gun from the original owner some years back – at that time it was unfired. Since then, I found a set of 28ga barrels “in the white” from Browning and had them custom fitted to this gun, turning into the package I’m presenting today. The work was done by Browning Master Gunsmith and the barrels are numbered #1 and #2 respectively. I have hunted this gun and have enjoyed it thoroughly. The 28ga barrels are Lightning Model Barrels but because of the era they fit perfectly and I like both the wider Lightning field rib on the 28ga and the tapered rib of the 20ga barrels – best of both worlds. The package comes ready to travel in a Negrini Uplander Model case – I have used it during air travel and it is the coolest and most functional case for this setup.  This is a very fine shotgun and is one of 217 total Superlight guns made in 1983/1984 era – some of the last of the Belgium guns. I guess the question becomes, where can a man find a 28ga superlight…? Very hard to find. Note: I have a Browning letter for the original 20ga configuration – obviously does not talk about 28ga barrels. Price: $27,995

Fox A Grade 16 Gauge – RARE WELL-FIGURED ENGLISH STOCK, Vintage Firearms, Inc: General Specs: Year 1937, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 4oz, Chokes IC/IM Factory, LOP 14 1/8″, DAH 2 3/16″, DAC 1 3/8″
Serial Number: 303595. Ansley H. Fox created a timeless, high quality, simply designed box lock at his A.H. Fox Gun Co. in Philadelphia, PA.  Most vintage side x side lovers are well-aware the 20ga. and 16ga. Fox guns are the most dynamic, lightweight, best handling American double guns ever created.  Best of all, the 16ga. guns were all built on the diminutive 20ga. frame.  This Fox A Grade, sn303595 made in 1937, is one of only 2500 Fox A Grade 16ga. guns ever made, with about 2200 remaining in existence due to loss and destruction, so there are few offered for sale.  Only 10% or so were ever made with the English style stock, or maybe a few hundred in existence.  IF YOU ARE ONE WHO LOVES STRAIGHT STOCKED UPLAND GUNS…THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO OWN THE PERFECT LITTLE FOX 16GA.!  Straight gripped guns almost never surface for sale.  In this Fox we have a solid gun with excellent screws, factory 26” number 3 weight barrels factory choked IC/IM with mirror bores, factory bore diameter, 99% rich rust blue, double ivory beads, and lots of barrel wall thickness (see tables below for specs).  The ribs are tight, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face with the top lever right of center…like a new gun.  Take a good look at the photos and you will see a truly gorgeous Fox A Grade that has everything going for it.  She is one of those guns that just looks “right”.  The wood figure and finish is stunning, the wood-to-metal fit is superb, the action retains 70% factory case color and the engraving is sharp and clear, …JUST A CLASSY LOOKING FOX!  Even the genuine Silvers pad has that aged look and is fit to perfection.  Search long and hard and you will not find another Fox A Grade 16 with all these great features.  What a great upland gun choked perfect for nearly any bird on the North American continent.  Weighing just 6 1/4lbs. you can carry this gun all day over hill and dale without getting “long arms” by the end of the day.  This is a gun with enough wear on it that you will not feel bad taking it afield and shooting your vintage gun at clay targets.  This is the epitome of an investment quality Fox with desirable features, and affordability.  Price: $5,950

Belgian Browning Super Light Superposed 20 Ga

Belgian Browning Super Light Superposed 20 Ga: Consigned to Cole’s is this very nice Belgian Browning Superposed Super Light in 20 ga with 26-inch barrels.  The shotgun bears serial # 223PW02990.  The bores are excellent.  The upper barrel is choked Mod (**) and the lower is choked IC (**-).  This shotgun weighs in at 5lbs 14 oz, a true super lightweight.  The shotgun has a long tang, straight grip.  The LOP is 14 ¾” and terminates with a Decelerator recoil pad.  The stock has various minor nicks and dings from days afield.    The gun is nice and tight and there is no looseness to be found open or when in battery.  The bluing is just starting to flake from the bottom of the receiver from carry.  Some very minor loss of factory finish is observed along the tang as well.  Again, this from honest use pursuing dove and quail.  One of the best I have seen or found out here in a very, very long time. Price: $4650

Old and new: Great looking 20 gauge doubles…

When I first got into doubles, twenty-gauge shotguns weren’t my thing. I was more interested in 12 gauges and — my favorites — sixteens. But as I’ve aged, I’ve earned a respect twenties. Ammo is easy to find for them, most of them are lightweight, and the throw enough lead to kill the birds I hunt most of the time.

The four 20 gauge shotguns listed below are both and unusual and unusually versatile. Check them out now.

W&C. Scott & Sons 20 Bore Hammergun in Excellent Condition
W&C. Scott & Sons 20 Bore Hammergun in Excellent Condition

W&C. Scott & Sons 20 Bore Hammergun in Excellent Condition: This little gun has a lot of character. It has great lines and handles like a wand. My photos don’t do justice to the gun. The finishes are much better than the photos suggest. The gun was refurbished by Keith & Cody Kearcher in Bend Oregon. The case coloring is original and is fading in the usual areas. The bores are bright and shiny with no visible imperfections. Lock-up is tight with or without the forend attached. I have used this gun on pheasants with great success. I use RST 2&1/2 inch loads. These are light Smokeless loads. Stock dimensions are excellent for the average shooter. Collectors are aware that small bore English guns are rare. This is especially true of W&C, Scott small bores. I have only encountered 3 in over 40 years of collecting Scott guns. Here are the specifications on this gun: Barrel length =28 inches. LOP from front trigger=14&1/2 inches. Chokes are Cylinder and Cylinder Weight is 5 & 3/4 pounds. Serial # is 37622. Date of Manufacture is 1885. Price: $3,250

BROWNING – Superposed – Superlight – 20ga – O/U – All Original – Ready for the Field

While winter may is coming for Game of Thrones fans, us bird hunters have a better time of year around the corner: Fall. And if you’re chasing grouse, quail, woodcock this season, here’s the perfect OU to get things done.

Of all the Superposed shotguns Browning made, Superlight models were the trimmest. This one checks all the boxes for what a do-it-all upland gun should be: Modern dimensions, 2 3/4″ chamber, time-tested design, reliable single trigger, straight grip, lightweight. On top of all this, it’s priced very fairly and it’s just old enough to have a bit of character all its own.
