1907 Parker A5 Quality BHE 12 Gauge Double Pigeon Gun w/ 30" Acme Steel Barrels ** Mod./Full **
1907 Parker A5 Quality BHE 12 Gauge Double Pigeon Gun w/ 30″ Acme Steel Barrels ** Mod./Full **

1907 Parker A5 Quality BHE 12 Gauge Double Pigeon Gun w/ 30″ Acme Steel Barrels ** Mod./Full **: This is a VERY classy and beautiful Parker Brothers “Quality A5” BHE 12 gauge double “Pigeon Gun” with 30″ inch “ACME” fluid steel barrels choked “Full” and a tight “Modified”.  Built in 1907, this gun originally had a capped pistol-grip stock set according to the Parker book, but is now stocked with a straight-gripped and checkered American Walnut stock set that has been on the gun at least 30 years that we know of, and likely much, much longer.  When we acquired it the butt was fit with a white spacer and a collapsed rubber pad that was hard as a rock!  We had the white spacer removed and a new pad that looks period-correct installed in place of the collapsed hard one.  The length of pull was kept the same as it would have been if the old pad wasnt collapsed, at 14″ inches from the front trigger to the end of the pad.  The rest of this spectacular gun is in exactly the same configuration as the book says it was when it left the factory, a “Quality – A5″ BHE Grade on a size 2 frame with double triggers, ejectors, and 30” inch Acme steel barrels. As you can see from the pictures, this has some spectacular factory hand-cut engraving on it consisting of floral/scroll patterns.  You will notice that there is a panel on each side and the bottom of the receiver with particularly striking engraving with more relief than the engraving around them.  These side panels are round in shape and feature two types of flowers with 7 blooms in each one.  The panel on the bottom is rectangular and is also a floral pattern, with two types of blooms and 5 total flowers surrounded by leaves.  The remainder of the engraving is made up of intricate scroll designs and some classic patterns and detail work.  The receiver still shows some faint case colors in some areas, with the protected areas having much more vivid colors.  Where there are no case colors showing on the receiver it is a very pleasing light gray color. The receiver as a whole has a very uniform patina to it, with no blotches or areas that look out of place.  The gloss blue finish on the barrels, the lower tang, the forearm hardware, and the triggerguard is handsome and bright, showing only minor wear and handling marks.  There are no eyesores or bad spots that stand-out.  All of the screws are original and in good shape, with many “timed” together and only a few that have a little marring of the slot.  All of the markings on this gun outside of the engraving are 100% legible, crisp and clear, including the water tables.  The face of the receiver is in excellent condition, with no damage to the firing pin holes and no circular primer ring erosion visible. This Parker never had a safety, as you can see the upper tang is solid and not plugged.  This is very common for a gun made for live pigeons as these competitive shoots generally are “no alibi”, meaning you do not get another chance to shoot for forgetting to take off the safety, or a safety malfunction. The barrels on this beautiful Parker are 30″ inches with a solid rib, ejectors, and 2.75″ chambers.  We measured the constriction and the barrels are choked at the very tightest end of “Modified” and a normal “Full”.  The bores in both barrels are clean and bright with no dents, bulges, pitting, or defects of any kind.  The checkered Walnut stock set is in very good condition and quite attractive.  It shows some very nice dark figure in it, and the checkering still looks sharp. Both the forearm and buttstock are free from any major damage, cracks, chips, or repairs.  Both parts are nice and tight to the gun with no wiggle, and the joints between metal and wood are tight.  This double is in perfect working order, and the barrels are perfecty on-face and lock up rock-solid to the receiver.  Price: $12,250*

Granted its life was America but this is dreams of tigers, ships, and palaces, fine spices and women and silk. Colonel Fosbery’s patent #7568 of June 20, 1885, was intended to make a gun capable of being fired either with shot, ball, or conical bullet. Holland & Holland gave the rifled chokebore its name, “Paradox”. Back in the day, Paradox meant “That which is contrary to received opinion; strange, but true”. H&H wanted 100-yard performance that duplicated the Express rifle at that time, and still have a gun that gave very good shot patterns. The Paradox will pattern from cylinder to improved cylinder chokes. H&H built a total of 1,463 Paradox guns, I am certain William Evans London shop built few. Price: $19,500

Collector Condition 1958 Belgian Browning Superposed 20ga 26.5″ Choked Modified over Improved Cylinder

Collector Condition 1958 Belgian Browning Superposed 20ga 26.5″ Choked Modified over Improved Cylinder: For sale from my Dad and I’s personal collection is a very nice Belgium Browning Superposed 20ga from the late 1950s. This gun is the desirable round knob long tang field configuration with field choked barrels which measure 26.5 inches with vent rib and choked Modified (**) over Improved Cylinder (**-). The wood is very nicely colored and has dark grain present throughout the stock and the forearm. One of the best-looking grade 1’s you’ll find anywhere. The condition is quite nice, there are only a few scattered handling marks to mention in either the wood or the metal. It is easily one of the nicest 1950s superposed I have ever seen and could sparsely be improved upon in condition or eye appeal. The action is very stiff and like new, it cannot be broken open without the use of both hands! Price: $4,650*

Fabbri Best Grade "Funeral" Sidelock 12 ga. O/U Shotgun
Fabbri Best Grade “Funeral” Sidelock 12 ga. O/U Shotgun

Fabbri Best Grade “Funeral” Sidelock 12 ga. O/U Shotgun: Fabbri Best Grade “Funeral” Gold Line Sidelock 12 gauge O/U shotgun.  Masterfully hand-made in 1972 by Armi Fabbri this “pigeon” configured O/U comes with two original 30” sets of Bohler Super Blitz steel barrels. Both sets are identical in that they are fitted with “flat” vent ribs that taper from 7/16” to 5/16” and have brass front and mid beads. The set marked “I” is choked .020” Modified and .035” Full.  Set “II” is choked .035” Full and .043” XXFull. The sidelock receiver was engraved by Italian master engraver Ferruccio Iora in the minimalistic “Funeral” style which features very fine, and very difficult to execute gold wire on a “black” finished frame.  In the case of this gun “less is more” as you will surely agree, this is a splendid looking Fabbri. The stock and forearm were fashioned from a beautiful piece of walnut.  The forearm is fitted with an Anson style push button release.  The buttstock has a right-hand palm swell.  As the presents it has a 14 ¾” LOP over several spacers and a recoil pad.  The DAC is 1 3/8” and the DAH is 1 3/8” with about ¼” right hand cast.  Although the dimensions are very shootable, you will agree that a new stock is in order.  Tulio Fabbri estimates $10k to restock the gun by the factory.  Whereas it could be professionally restocked here in the states for considerably less money! Of course, this is a Fabbri which indicates it is one of the very best guns in the world from both a materials standpoint and from a fit and finish perspective! The gun weighs 7 lbs. 11 oz., and balances beautifully.  Overall condition is 98%+. In all regards this is one of the finest guns in the world and this very gun would be approximately $200k to replace.  Cased in maker’s leather luggage case. SN:  E463 Price: $75,000*

Exceedingly rare Parker Bros. CHE 12ga 3″ Magnum w/32″brls – Late Remington gun with incredible wood and dimensions in outstanding condition: Exceedingly rare gun made in 1939, this is the only 3″ marked “CHE” Grade I’ve ever seen.  This exact gun, pictured on page 296 of the “Parker Story”.  The gun made on a #2 frame (rare to find this late) with a beavertail forend, high raised rib, Parker Single Selective Trigger, auto ejectors, capped pistol grip buttstock, and original skeleton buttplate.  The gun has fabulously figured American Walnut stocks with what are unquestionably factory sling swivels.  Beautifully engraved by Runge with large flying duck on the trigger plate.  This is a beast of a gun and the rarity cannot be overstated!  Overall the gun remains in super condition.  Barrels and trigger guard retain about all of an older restored factory correct quality rust blue.  Receiver retains about 40% original case color- engraving is super crispy and well defined.  Stocks are sound and retain most of an older professionally restored finish with only minor handling marks.  Bores are brilliant and shiny.  Mechanics are crisp and the gun is tight on the face.Serial Number: 241,442 Barrel Length: 32″ Chambers: 3″ Ejectors: yes Condition: Excellent Metal Condition: Excellent Wood Condition: Excellent Bore Condition: Brilliant and shiny Barrel Type: Acme Steel Triggers: Parker SST Stock Comb: 1-5/8″ Stock Heel: 2-1/2″ Fore End: Original Beavertail Butt Pad: Original Skeleton BP LOP: 14-1/4″ Weight: 8lbs 12oz Choke Left: Full Choke Right: Full Price: $25,000

Fox A Grade 16 Gauge – RARE WELL-FIGURED ENGLISH STOCK, Vintage Firearms, Inc: General Specs: Year 1937, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 4oz, Chokes IC/IM Factory, LOP 14 1/8″, DAH 2 3/16″, DAC 1 3/8″
Serial Number: 303595. Ansley H. Fox created a timeless, high quality, simply designed box lock at his A.H. Fox Gun Co. in Philadelphia, PA.  Most vintage side x side lovers are well-aware the 20ga. and 16ga. Fox guns are the most dynamic, lightweight, best handling American double guns ever created.  Best of all, the 16ga. guns were all built on the diminutive 20ga. frame.  This Fox A Grade, sn303595 made in 1937, is one of only 2500 Fox A Grade 16ga. guns ever made, with about 2200 remaining in existence due to loss and destruction, so there are few offered for sale.  Only 10% or so were ever made with the English style stock, or maybe a few hundred in existence.  IF YOU ARE ONE WHO LOVES STRAIGHT STOCKED UPLAND GUNS…THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO OWN THE PERFECT LITTLE FOX 16GA.!  Straight gripped guns almost never surface for sale.  In this Fox we have a solid gun with excellent screws, factory 26” number 3 weight barrels factory choked IC/IM with mirror bores, factory bore diameter, 99% rich rust blue, double ivory beads, and lots of barrel wall thickness (see tables below for specs).  The ribs are tight, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face with the top lever right of center…like a new gun.  Take a good look at the photos and you will see a truly gorgeous Fox A Grade that has everything going for it.  She is one of those guns that just looks “right”.  The wood figure and finish is stunning, the wood-to-metal fit is superb, the action retains 70% factory case color and the engraving is sharp and clear, …JUST A CLASSY LOOKING FOX!  Even the genuine Silvers pad has that aged look and is fit to perfection.  Search long and hard and you will not find another Fox A Grade 16 with all these great features.  What a great upland gun choked perfect for nearly any bird on the North American continent.  Weighing just 6 1/4lbs. you can carry this gun all day over hill and dale without getting “long arms” by the end of the day.  This is a gun with enough wear on it that you will not feel bad taking it afield and shooting your vintage gun at clay targets.  This is the epitome of an investment quality Fox with desirable features, and affordability.  Price: $5,950

Parker VH 20g 26" original...high condition
Parker VH 20g 26″ original…high condition

Parker VH 20g 26″ original…high condition: 26” solid rib barrels choke IC/F.  Double triggers, automatic safety, late Parker gun.  Capped pistol grip stock with 13 7/8” LOP over the dogs head butt plate, 1 5/8” DAC and 2 ½” DAH; splinter forearm. The frame is bright from carrying but there is at least 80% muted case colors, original barrel blue is excellent; trigger guard has only traces of blue.  Wood varnish appears to be original and there is on small repair at the rear of the top tang. The barrels have .618” bore diameters where .615 is standard so I will assume that the bores were lightly polished by .003” with nominal wall thickness of .027”.  “0” frame. So, this is a very nice, high condition VH 20…ready for upland hunting and as a great addition to your collection.  Made in 1935 and is exactly as specified in the Parker Gun Id book. SN:  238463 Price: $3,650

Belgian Browning Super Light Superposed 20 Ga
Belgian Browning Super Light Superposed 20 Ga

Belgian Browning Super Light Superposed 20 Ga: Consigned to Cole’s is this very nice Belgian Browning Superposed Super Light in 20 ga with 26-inch barrels.  The shotgun bears serial # 223PW02990.  The bores are excellent.  The upper barrel is choked Mod (**) and the lower is choked IC (**-).  This shotgun weighs in at 5lbs 14 oz, a true super lightweight.  The shotgun has a long tang, straight grip.  The LOP is 14 ¾” and terminates with a Decelerator recoil pad.  The stock has various minor nicks and dings from days afield.    The gun is nice and tight and there is no looseness to be found open or when in battery.  The bluing is just starting to flake from the bottom of the receiver from carry.  Some very minor loss of factory finish is observed along the tang as well.  Again, this from honest use pursuing dove and quail.  One of the best I have seen or found out here in a very, very long time. Price: $4650

H&H Cavalier 12 ga. best boxlock SxS shotgun
H&H Cavalier 12 ga. best boxlock SxS shotgun

H&H Cavalier 12 ga. best boxlock SxS shotgun: For a few years H&H took what was essentially a best quality Birmingham boxlock similar to a W C Scott Bowood; added H&H improvements and extra finish to make the Cavalier.  Such upgrades as a removable hinge pin for future tightening capabilities, chopper lump barrels, higher grade wood and better finishes.  It is my understanding that H&H could never market/sell the Cavalier for enough money to cover their costs, so production stopped after three years for economic reasons. This is a Holland & Holland.  The 28” chopper lump barrels are finished in a dark rust blue and are fitted with a tapered, concave smooth solid rib and just a front silver bead.  The bore diameters are as stamped, .728” with the right barrel choked .010” (IC) and the left barrel choked .020” (Mod) and minimum wall thicknesses of .035” in each. The frame in nicely finished with original case colors retaining over 85% and a blued floor plate and blued trigger guard. The handsome walnut straight hand stock has a 15” LOP over and original ½” full leather recoil pad.  There is 1 3/8” DAC, 2 ¼” DAH and 14” right hand cast.  The splinter forearm is fitted with a Deeley release. This truly delightful game gun weighs 6 lbs. 5 oz., lively and balanced perfectly between the hands. The gun comes cased with H&H accessories. SN:  5002. Price: $8,475
