PIOTTI KING SIDE x SIDE 16 gauge 28" chopper lump barrels
PIOTTI KING SIDE x SIDE 16 gauge 28″ chopper lump barrels

PIOTTI KING SIDE x SIDE 16 gauge  28″ chopper lump barrels: … 2 3/4″ chambers … single selective trigger … LOP 14 7/8″ … drop comb 1 3/8″ … drop heel 2 1/8″ … weight 6 lbs 8 oz … bore dia: L..675 R.676 … bore restrictions: L.014 R.010 … wall thickness: L.026 R.032.

The engraver, G.Ranetti, proudly signed this work on the trigger plate to the right of the trigger. The receiver is literally covered with extremely fine and detailed small scroll with interspersed acanthus and floral scroll over-lays. Perfect shading and delicated gold inlays in certain areas make this a memorable piece. This fine engraving work continues to the trigger guard, upper and lower tang, operating lever, butt plate frame and forearm latching hardware. This is the ultimate of 100% coverage. The bottom of the left barrel is engraved “W.L.Moore, Westlake, CA. Mod KING 1”.

Finely cut wrap around, 32 LPI checkering highlights the straight English grip and the splinter forearm. The high contrast grain of this European walnut will definitely turn heads for a second look. The forearm features a gold Fratelli Piotti coat of arms. This piece comes in a custom oak and leather case with protective brass corners and a lock. The case interior is burgandy cloth with oak compartments. Accessories include a rosewood & brass cleaning rod, oil bottle, wallet with cleaning tips and brushes, snap caps and cleaning gauze. Price: $16,500

BERETTA 1951 S3EL SIDELOCK- EXC FLORAL & SCROLL ENGRAVING by M. SLATNIK- NEAR EXHIBITION WOOD- 27 1/2″ SOLID RIB BARRELS: #9036, Beretta O/U Sidelock Ejector Model S3EL 12 Bore Made in 1951 with 27 1/2″ Acciaio Inossidabile Excelsior Steel Barrels with a Hand Filed Solid Rib at .726 .004 & .008″ (Skt.I & Imp.Cyl.), Original 2 3/4″, 1.365 KG weight barrels, Double triggers with the front trigger articulated, Game forend with finger grooves, Straight hand stock at 14 5/8 x 1 5/16 x 2 1/8″ over a 7/8″ pad, Slight cast-off for the right hand, 7 lbs., It has a super piece of wood that borders on being an exhibition piece with great black & brown color contrast, It has 100% coverage of great floral engraving with roses done with a very fine scroll background plus neat floral borders by M. Slatnik and signed, All early Beretta’s done by Slatnik are special pieces as he was one of the leading Italian engravers of this era; This piece has 9 retainer screws, including the replaceable locking shoulders on the barrel, which secure key screws on the frame, forend and trigger guard, I believe the barrels were reblacked a long time ago and very professionally done, All lettering sharp and very difficult to tell they were reblacked, The buttstock might have been re-oiled but not refinished and it remains in 94% condition with light handling marks only, The checkering is original and remains at 98%, The bores are excellent plus, It remains a very stout mechanical gun in every respect. Here is a 1951 Quality Sidelock that has at least 94-95% of its mechanical life left for the balance of your sporting days. Buy this piece here for $7950 or order a new one for about $30K, you are the judge. Price: $7,950

A couple nice hammerguns, both by Thomas Bland & Sons…

Thomas Bland, Gunmakers, Strand, London
Thomas Bland, Gunmakers, Strand, London

If there’s one thing that gets my heart racing, it’s a nice, old hammergun. I’ve always loved hammerguns. If they have any faults, it’s that most of them are 120+ years old. That means they’ve have had plenty of time to be used and abused, leaving them so worn out and so messed with I wouldn’t want to own them.

But that doesn’t appear to be the case with either of these hammerguns. From what I can see, they both look they’re in excellent, shootable condition. Both of them were made by Thomas Bland & Sons, a British gunmaker that started out in 1840 and continues on to this day.
