CONNECTICUT SHOTGUN CUSTOM RBL- 12 GAUGE
CONNECTICUT SHOTGUN CUSTOM RBL- 12 GAUGE

CONNECTICUT SHOTGUN CUSTOM RBL – 12 GAUGE: I have for sale a very special Connecticut Shotgun RBL 12 Gauge. I had this RBL custom made to my specifications. I traveled to the Connecticut Shotgun facility and picked out the wood blank for the stock and discussed just what I wanted in the gun. The stock blank was $1K. I wanted it light for a 12 so it is built on a 16-gauge frame and weighs 6Lb. 9 ounces on my digital scale. It has double triggers, and comes with six choke tubes ic through full in a nice leather case. I had them put a very classy metal heel and toe plate on the butt. The barrels are 28”. The LOP is 14 ¼”, DAC 1 ¼” and DAH is 2 ¼”. Perfect modern dimensions. Screws are perfect and have never been turned. I have used it mostly for Sporting Clays, but with the weight it is also suited for Pheasant, Grouse, Woodcock and Quail hunting. There are a few very minor safe marks in the stock and minimal wear to the ends of the barrels from going in and out of a soft gun case. The case colors are 100% and beautiful. The engraving is one of my favorites. I am selling it as I just do not shoot it much anymore and it should be appreciated and used by someone who would. This RBL is one of a kind and I do not think you can even get a custom RBL today. Price: $5,695*

 Webley & Scott - Model 720 - 26" IC / IM - All Original
Webley & Scott – Model 720 – 26″ IC / IM – All Original

This 20g Webley & Scott Model 720 is a basic British boxlock built by one of the UK’s most famous makers. It was made to be rugged, reliable, and relatively affordable.

To that end, it was built on one of the most reliable actions ever conceived — the Anson & Deeley boxlock action. Harrington & Richardson imported them into the US in the ’70s, and back then they cost $1400 and came with a case and cleaning accessories.

Compared to the Fox, it has longer, 3″ chambers, shorter barrels, and a straight-grip stock that’s higher and longer. It’s a more modern gun and it’s cheaper, too ($3650 vs. $5900).

A H FOX, PHIL. A GRADE 20 GAUGE AUTO-EJECTORS, 100% ORIGINAL

This 20g A.H. Fox A Grade is a great looking vintage SxS built by a legendary maker. It drips with the mystique that so many of us love about old American shotguns. It has great looking wood and it’s built on the reliable Fox boxlock action. It has ejectors, too.

Compared to the Webley, it has 2 1/2″ chambers, and a shorter, pistol-grip stock with a bit more drop, and longer barrels. It’s also a bit lighter. It’s also around 50 years older.

This rifle is chambered for .450 Black Powder Express (.450 314-inch BPE), one of the most popular rounds of the late 19th century. Many different types of rifles were chambered for .450 BPE and these guns were used for everything from deer stalking in Scotland to elephant hunting in Africa. The round was replaced by the more potent .450 Nitro Express in 1898 (BTW: go here to see how the .450NE compares to a .470NE).

J. Rigby & Co. 10 ga. Magnum Side-by-Side Shotgun

J. Rigby & Co.  10 ga. Magnum Side-by-Side ShotgunThis is the real deal – 32″ barrels choked extra full/extra full (.050/.050), 3-1/2″ chambers, 4 ton proof, a really rare gun, I’ve never seen one like this.  Automatic ejectors, double triggers.  Sidelock action with Rigby’s signature drop edge lockplates.  Carved leaf fences, doll’s head locks off the toplever,  Rigby London in gold on the top rib and the locks.  Traditional Rigby foliate scroll.  Rich, bold case colors complement the oversize action.  Beavertail forend, full pistol grip stock with grip cap of straight grained English walnut, measures 1-1/2″ comb x 1-7/8″ heel x 14-1/2 LOP over a 3/4″ pad.  The gun retains 99% of its color and lustrous Johnson’s barrel black.  Minor handling marks in the finish as this gun has seen just a bit of use.  Lots of front end bias – you will not stop your swing with this one!  Built in 1985, most likely when Rigby was located in Covent Garden, London.  Just a really special gun and possibly one-of-a-kind!  Weighs 9 lbs. Cased.  Price: $39,500

Smith guns I have owned and one of the finest American doubles I have seen.  Maybe I should not say untouched, as we did restore the butt stock as the finish was not on par with the rest of the gun.  All parts are original to the gun.  The screws are perfect, the bores are perfect, the engraving is crisp and clear, the triggers break like glass, the barrels are tight on the breech face and hinge pin like a new gun, the case color is bold and strong and everywhere, the wood to metal fit is superb…and those loooong 32″ barrels.

Webley & Scott 12 gauge Model 700 SxS Shotgun
Webley & Scott 12 gauge Model 700 SxS Shotgun

If fine shotguns are addicting, this Webley & Scott Model 700 is their gateway drug. Well made, nice handling, and affordable, these Birmingham-built side-by-sides are the perfect way to get hooked on British doubles.

Webley & Scott built the M700 on an Anson & Deeley-style action, one of the most reliable  shotgun designs ever created, and they made the entire SxS to be as tough as Timex. When it comes to field guns, the M700 doubles can really take a licking and keep on ticking.

This Webley & Scott Model 700 is on Gunbroker.com now and the listing ends 5/31/2015 @ 12:09:13 PM ET.

Good gun alert: a nice looking 16g Webley & Scott Model 700…

Webley & Scott model 700E 16ga M/F
Webley & Scott model 700E 16ga M/F

I’ve raved about Webley & Scott’s Model 700 shotguns a bunch of times. Rugged and dependable, the M700 was introduced in the 1950s as an entry-level shotgun and it went of to become one of the most popular side-by-sides ever made. While 12 gauge Model 700s are easy to find, 16 gauges are not. The one you see here is on Gunbroker.com now and the auction ends on 11/16/2014 3:07:58 PM ET.

The Brits were never big fans of 16s. But here in the US, a small number of upland hunters have preferred them. Sixteens tend to weigh less than twelves, and they push more than enough lead to drop any grouse, woodcock, or quail.

Webley & Scott model 700E 16ga M/F: Scarce 16 gauge English shotgun by Webley and Scott Birminham England. Gun is 98% original finishes, tight as the day it was made. 12 gauge Webley & Scott SxS Shotgun @ Cherry's Fine Guns
12 gauge Webley & Scott SxS Shotgun @ Cherry’s Fine Guns

New to side-by-sides and looking for a good buy? Then check out this 12g Webley & Scott Model 700 listed at Cherry’s Fine Guns (Scroll down-it’s near the end of the list.)

This twelve gauge is more than enough gun for upland hunting. For pheasants, you can load it up with 1 1/8oz of shot. If you’re after quail or woodcock, you go down to 7/8oz. And on a sporting-clays course, Winchester’ Featherlight rounds should work just fine (if this gun’s 2 3/4″ chambers are original – something to have checked out before you guy the gun.

Webley & Scott introduced the M700 in the 1950s as an entry-level shotgun and it went of to become one of the most popular side-by-sides ever made. Built on an Anson & Deeley-style style action with Southgate ejectors, they’re workhorses that can handle lots of shooting, season after season.

If this one is as nice and original as it looks, the price is very fair.

Beretta SO 2 12ga. Sidelock O/U Shotgun with 27 1/2″ Bbls

Beretta SO 2 12ga. Sidelock O/U Shotgun with 27 1/2″ Bbls: M/F, made in 1957 Used One Time . This gun is as new except that the previous owner had more dollars than sense . Looks like at the most a box of shells was fired , but he must have got at least one pheasant as he left a spot of blood on the lower right side barrel and it slightly pitted . It was stored all these years and never used again . We cleaned the spot up and in the right light you can see it but would have to look for it ! ( See photo ) We also replaced the rock hard White Line vented pad w/a new one . This gun is tight – just like a new one at the Beretta Store . This is maybe as close as you can get to a new 1957 hand made sidelock Beretta . Wood looks good . Great closet queen looking to get out once in a while . LOP is 14 3/4 , weight 7# . Price: $5,995
