1907 Parker A5 Quality BHE 12 Gauge Double Pigeon Gun w/ 30″ Acme Steel Barrels ** Mod./Full **: This is a VERY classy and beautiful Parker Brothers “Quality A5” BHE 12 gauge double “Pigeon Gun” with 30″ inch “ACME” fluid steel barrels choked “Full” and a tight “Modified”. Built in 1907, this gun originally had a capped pistol-grip stock set according to the Parker book, but is now stocked with a straight-gripped and checkered American Walnut stock set that has been on the gun at least 30 years that we know of, and likely much, much longer. When we acquired it the butt was fit with a white spacer and a collapsed rubber pad that was hard as a rock! We had the white spacer removed and a new pad that looks period-correct installed in place of the collapsed hard one. The length of pull was kept the same as it would have been if the old pad wasnt collapsed, at 14″ inches from the front trigger to the end of the pad. The rest of this spectacular gun is in exactly the same configuration as the book says it was when it left the factory, a “Quality – A5″ BHE Grade on a size 2 frame with double triggers, ejectors, and 30” inch Acme steel barrels. As you can see from the pictures, this has some spectacular factory hand-cut engraving on it consisting of floral/scroll patterns. You will notice that there is a panel on each side and the bottom of the receiver with particularly striking engraving with more relief than the engraving around them. These side panels are round in shape and feature two types of flowers with 7 blooms in each one. The panel on the bottom is rectangular and is also a floral pattern, with two types of blooms and 5 total flowers surrounded by leaves. The remainder of the engraving is made up of intricate scroll designs and some classic patterns and detail work. The receiver still shows some faint case colors in some areas, with the protected areas having much more vivid colors. Where there are no case colors showing on the receiver it is a very pleasing light gray color. The receiver as a whole has a very uniform patina to it, with no blotches or areas that look out of place. The gloss blue finish on the barrels, the lower tang, the forearm hardware, and the triggerguard is handsome and bright, showing only minor wear and handling marks. There are no eyesores or bad spots that stand-out. All of the screws are original and in good shape, with many “timed” together and only a few that have a little marring of the slot. All of the markings on this gun outside of the engraving are 100% legible, crisp and clear, including the water tables. The face of the receiver is in excellent condition, with no damage to the firing pin holes and no circular primer ring erosion visible. This Parker never had a safety, as you can see the upper tang is solid and not plugged. This is very common for a gun made for live pigeons as these competitive shoots generally are “no alibi”, meaning you do not get another chance to shoot for forgetting to take off the safety, or a safety malfunction. The barrels on this beautiful Parker are 30″ inches with a solid rib, ejectors, and 2.75″ chambers. We measured the constriction and the barrels are choked at the very tightest end of “Modified” and a normal “Full”. The bores in both barrels are clean and bright with no dents, bulges, pitting, or defects of any kind. The checkered Walnut stock set is in very good condition and quite attractive. It shows some very nice dark figure in it, and the checkering still looks sharp. Both the forearm and buttstock are free from any major damage, cracks, chips, or repairs. Both parts are nice and tight to the gun with no wiggle, and the joints between metal and wood are tight. This double is in perfect working order, and the barrels are perfecty on-face and lock up rock-solid to the receiver. Price: $12,250*

Rare Pre-War Browning Double Single Superposed OU Shotgun
Rare Pre-War Browning Double Single Superposed OU Shotgun: Rare pre war Belgian Browning 12 gauge Superposed built in 1935 with double single triggers. The double single trigger concept was devised by Val Browning, John Brownings son. Each trigger is a true single trigger. All the shooter has to do is choose which barrel to fire first and then pull the same trigger again to fire the 2nd barrel. A great idea, but too expensive to build in a highly competitive market. The double single triggers were only offered for 3 years,so these guns are very hard to find. This one has 26″ solid rib barrels choked improved cylinder and modified. Thie gun is in excellent original condition retaining 95% of the original blue and wood finish. The bores are mint and free of dents or rust. The barrels are on face and lock up tightly. The stock is sound with no cracks or damage. The stock retains the original buttplate. I have fired this gun on clays and it functions perfectly. A rare piece of Browning history and a great all around shotgun for hunting or clays. Price: $2,900*

Overall rifle is in VG++ original condition with some faded barrel blacking and some nicks and dings in the metal and wood but nothing that takes away from the rifle’s overall appearance. It is evident that it has been well cared for during its ~120 year history. Mechanics and bores are excellent. This rifle was made in 1904 for R. Tyader Esquire and is a near twin, including single select trigger, to the Westley Richards Droplock 577 NE rifles owned and used by famous historic figures such as author Ernest Hemingway, famed ivory hunter James Sutherland, explorer Admiral JA Baker, and actor Stewart Granger. This particular rifle was owned by Jim Wilkerson of Rifle Ranch and was documented and described by Jeff Cooper in a full, multipage, article that he wrote describing this exact rifle for the 1983 Gun Digest. In the article Mr Cooper dubbed this rifle “The Crumpler” based on John Taylor’s quote that the .577 NE will crumple a charging elephant better than any other cartridge. A copy of the article and the original manuscript is included with the rifle. This is a beautiful example of old-world British gunmaking at its finest in the premier ultimate big bore chambering made during the golden age of ivory hunters. There were very few Westley Richards 577s made prior to WWII (~37) and this is an exceptional and original example. These do not come up for sale often. Price:$62,500

The massive “B” grade shotgun weighs in at 12 lbs 10 Oz. and has border scroll work with a beautiful engraved dog’s head on the left lockplate. The side plates are marked “W. & C. SCOTT & SON” with the lever marked PATENT”. The underside of the barrels are marked with the serial number along with proofs and “CHOKE”, “9B”, “10M” and “NOT FOR BALL”. The barrel flats have the appropriate British proof marks with the water table having the W & C Scott Patent for the action. All numbered parts have matching serial numbers. The gun is in near excellent condition with the fine Damascus barrels retaining much of the original thumbprint pattern ranging from brown toning to a pleasant pewter grey and free of any major dents with only some isolated surface use marks and scratches. The side plates, hammers and protected areas of the frame retain much of the original vibrant case color fading to a smoky gray on the use and carry points. The finely checkered walnut stock with horn capped pistol grip is now solid with an excellent professionally spliced wood repair on the lower left side of the wrist and a small corner chip repair on the right side that are so well done as to be hard to find. The finely checkered forearm rates excellent and is solid with only some very minor use marks. The stock sports a silver oval name plate and horn grip cap and butt plate that rate near excellent. The LOP is 14 1/8″ with drops of 1 ¾” and 1 7/8″ at the comb and heel respectively. The barrels are on face with a tight lock up and the lever resting just right of the center. The hammers cock and release with a crisp trigger pull. A beautiful and rare, very large bore, W. & C. Scott waterfowl shotgun that could still be shot with the proper low-pressure loads. Antique Price: $6,495

Truly exceptional & finest quality fully optioned all original Parker 12ga A1 Special w/ fantastic Huey Case – Choice in every regard!!!
Truly exceptional & finest quality fully optioned all original Parker 12ga A1 Special w/ fantastic Huey Case – Choice in every regard!!!: Exceedingly rare all original Parker A-1 Special 12ga built on a #2 frame with 30″ original Peerless Steel ventilated rib barrels. Original beavertail forend is beautifully checkered and iron fully engraved. The receiver is full coverage “Invincible” style scroll engraved with game scenes – very rare on any A1 Special, this one with large Ruffed Grouse on bottom, Geese with Pointer on left, Pheasant with setter on right all surrounded by perfectly executed full coverage scroll. Barrels with scroll wedges at breech ends and frame with carved fences and carved pigtails on the bottom. Stocked with an exceptional piece of European Walnut and fantastically checkered as seen in the photos. Back end of the butt has a small Monte Carol and terminates with its original hardening Silvers pad. Housed in a magnificent Marvin Huey elephant hide and oak case. The case is custom fitted for this gun with accessories and is a remarkable work of art in its own right with a replacement cost today in excess of $5500! Overall, the gun remains in fantastic all original untouched condition. The barrels retain more than 97% original blue. Action retains a lot of the original case color, particularly strong on the sides, but percentage is hard to ascertain due to the full coverage engraving. Easily more than 50%, though. Stocks are beautiful, sound, and original and retain nearly all of their original finish with only very minor handling marks. The bores are brilliant and shiny, mechanics are crisp. Gun was not used very much. Case is near mint with only very minor rubs. I’ve handled more than my fair share of ultra high end Parkers in the past decade and this one easily ranks among the finest of them all for class, character, originality, rarity, and condition. The gun is engraved in a really rare pattern in that game scenes are not often found on A1’s and this gun comes from one of the best Parker collections ever assembled and was considered one of the crown jewels in that collection. This gun should be considered for its form and function as an alternate investment as it is nearly impossible to improve upon. Price:$159,500

Westley Richards 12g and .500 BPE 562 Grade Cape Gun
Westley Richards 12g and .500 BPE 562 Grade Cape Gun: Made between the two World Wars and remaining in remarkably high original condition. Westley Richards & Co. offered multi-barreled rifle and shotgun combination guns for much of the first half of the twentieth century. These were offered in two-barrel side by side “Cape Gun” configurations as well as three-barrel drillings. In a supplemental list from 1912 of items offered by Westley’s at the time, these guns were listed as: “…made in all bores, suitable for Indian, African, and Colonial sports. Special attention and care are given to the most essential features, viz:-durability, boring, fine cutting of the rifling, the fitting and adjustment of the sights, and regulation of the shooting. Every gun is guaranteed accurately sighted and shot.”. This is a 562 Grade completed November 14, 1924 for Mahomedally Noorbhoy, Bombay. The combination shotgun and rifle is built on an A&D fixed lock, non-ejector action with a Greener type crossbolt, listed in our ledgers as a “treble bite with tang lever”. The color hardened action has two triggers, automatic beetle back safety, and is absent any engraving save for the Maker’s name and an engraved thin-line border with “cut-away” fences.
The dovetailed lump, 28″ barrels are of Westley Richard’s Special Quality steel and bear the “Golden Triangle” trademark. The full-length matted rib has a slightly raised quarter rib, fitted with two folding leaves and a Tangent sight and a ramp front sight with a low profile brass beaded sight blade. The sight leaves are platinum lined and engraved (100, 200, 300-1,200 yds) respectively. The barrel is also engraved: “Westley Richards & Co. Birmingham”, “562 Grade” and “.500 Express 3 Inch Case Black Powder”. The walnut stock has a nice straight figure, a semi-pistol grip, and a 14 1/2″ LOP over a smooth steel butt. The splinter forend has a matching steel forend tip with a Deeley latch. The rifle is finished with traditional sling eyes and the stock oval remains blank. On the bottom of the buttstock, just behind the pistol grip, the wood is correctly stamped “Made in England”. Gun retains nearly all of it is original color hardening and it remains vivid still protected by the original lacquer. The stock and barrels remain equally well preserved, retaining nearly all the original oil finish on the stock and nearly all of the original barrel black. The bores remain perfect, in both the shotgun and rifled barrels and are dent and rust free and all original. These combination guns from Westley Richards are quite rare today in any condition. And this gun is in as nice a condition as any collector could ask for. But for a gun made to a price point and intended to be used in the World’s most demanding environments, the overall quality and handling of the gun is superb and to find it so well preserved, is nothing short of a miracle. Remington 1874 Whitmore ( SN # 19) 12 Ga. Shotgun, Early Engraved Barrel Address:
Remington 1874 Whitmore ( SN # 19) 12 Ga. Shotgun, Early Engraved Barrel Address: This is the earliest Remington Whitmore Model 1874 I have ever seen. It has all matching serial numbers, #19. The original, engraved barrel address is truly a unique early feature. It is also engraved around the patent dates right in front of the lifter. The case hardening under the barrel on the frame and on the forearm steel is vivid. The case hardened locks and breech have turned a beautiful silver just like an old 1873 SAA. The 30-inch blued barrels go from blue to a thinning blue and plum color. The bores are in nice condition with a small amount of light pitting. This early hammer shotgun remains tight and the action is as solid as it was in 1874. The hammers cock crisply with a fine release on the triggers. The rebounding fire pins are just as crisp as the rest of the action. The buttstock is solid with no cracks but an inch and one-half above the steel butt plate there are two rack marks, one on each side (pictured) which are period usage. Fortunately, no one has ever tried to work on them. This is a beautiful and early American-made Remington cartridge shotgun that would stand proud in any fine Remington collection. Price:$1650

William Greener 10g Percussion Side-by-Side 1853 New York Exhibition
William Greener 10g Percussion Side-by-Side 1853 New York Exhibition: An incredible William Greener 10g Percussion Gun made for the 1853 New York Exhibition and remains in remarkable original condition. The gun is fitted with bar action locks with “Newcastle” style hammers and engraved in wonderful game scenes, obviously inspiring the engraving patterns of the later W.W. Greener high-grade guns. The right lock plate shows two setters pointing a brace of grouse, one looking over its shoulder (a tell-tell characteristic of original Greener guns). The left lock shows two running setters behind the hammers and a brace of snipe, one flushing one looking over its shoulder surrounded by full coverage and expertly engraved acanthus scroll, The trigger bow engraving shows a brace of pointers surrounded by scroll. Hammers and the breach block feature a dog’s head surrounded by matching scroll engraving. Furniture is also fully covered in matching scroll. The 29 3/4″ William Greener’s Laminated Steel barrels have a smooth game rib, platinum inlays with extensive engraving scroll along the full length of the rib, at the breaches, in the middle of the barrels and at the muzzles. The highly figured walnut is beautifully checkered in a point pattern on a straight hand grip and forend. The stock has a 14″ LOP over a smooth steel butt plate with a game scene engraved 4-tiered “widow’s peak” depicting a brace of pheasant, the hen flushing, and the rooster looking over his shoulder surrounded by matching scroll. The original gold-stock shield between the hammers remains blank. Finally, the gun is housed in its original Oak & Leather case lined in a blue calf’s skin with its original trade label and host of accouterments. Retains probably 20% original case colors in protected areas. Much of the original black remains on trigger bow and there are strong traces of original black on trigger bow tang and butt plate. The balance of metal having a soft silvered patina and the engraving remains sharp showing all its original shading and detail. The platinum letters on top rib remain all intact and remain flush. The bores remain in excellent condition and the barrels are bulge and dent free. Finally, the original case remains sound and sturdy and in equally remarkable condition as the gun. In addition to its history and provenance, this is without a doubt the oldest gun I have ever handled in such high, original condition and a testament to the illustrious reputation the elder Greener is famous for. The RBL is a robust gun with excellent mechanics and a very appealing look with its bone and charcoal case colored receiver, gold plated triggers, and nicely figured walnut stock.
